Inputing a separate chat channel for WTS/WTB boosts on all servers

I have recently spoken to a GM and he stated that advertising for boosts or buying boosts is limited only to the trade chat channel. I am sure half the people dont know about this and I know that nobody follows it. I have been looking at my LFG chat everyday for at least a month on my server (Benediction-Alliance) and half the posts are about WTS/WTB boosts. LFG should solely be used to find raid/dungeon groups or maybe some for quests. I understand reporting them stops the posts from showing but it doesnt stop what everyone else sees. This indirectly causes more people to use boosts since while they are looking for a real group they decide they would rather just buy a boost as well as the difficulty of finding groups especially in non peak hours. Since boosting has become such a big part of classic it should definitely have a separate chat channel for it. No one will use trade chat since its limited to cities and the boosters/boostees are all near the dungeon. I appreciate all the support we can get to have this implemented.

I actually didn’t know that WTB/S is meant to be for Trade chat only. I’m sure adding another chat channel is fine and all and is easily done no GM or patch required. Problem is though, it requires a server co-operating which i don’t see happening for the most part.

If you type /join [insert anything] you will join a chat, could be called “Mage services” or “Tanks for Hire” could be anything. If the people of the server wish to join it they can, and that’s the key word… can.

The only way i see world and LFG chat not be flooded with
“WTS X BOOTS from Y to Z” is if those channels are moderated by a bot that removes messages that contain WTS/B. Me being in Arugal, about 70% of my LFG and World chat consists of these advertisements, and it would be nice for it to be contained within it’s own chat.

It only takes a few reports, get too it!

No it doesnt because no one reports them. I can report all i want 90% of them wont be punished.

Also I agree Heydownthere, having a bot monitoring the chat would be the best solution but less likely than adding another chat channel.

That’s a problem for your server, you can as a community handle it swiftly, but it takes a group effort.

Yes and the group effort is getting this post attention so they can find a solution. If you think anyone I talk to about this in my server will actually care or take it seriously then your delusional. Stop replying to my post just to farm posts. Also like the guy above stated it obviously is not a problem in only my server.

You are in a guild right? Well you and your guild if they share your feeling can make a difference. You only need a few people dedicated to the cause.

You can even consider less scrupulous methods if you can afford to spend gold on it.

If you aren’t in a city you don’t see trade chat channel. So if you are questing and grinding you don’t see it.

That’s probably why on high-pop servers, LFG is full of boosting. On low-pop servers it isn’t. Maybe there isn’t any boosting on low-pop servers.

Lots of other things (including many non-WoW topics) are talked about on LFG too. Anyone who wants a “faction-wide audience” for their comments posts them in LFG.

It would be terrific if LFG was about groups for same-level dungeons, and there was a separate boost channel, and a separate “recruiting for raiding guilds” channel, and a separate “global chat” channel.
