Innervate design

I am wondering what the resto druid community thinks about how innervate works right now in Dragonflight. Coming from classic where innervates regenerates mana instead of allowing freecasting for a little bit, I am feeling really bad about how innervate works in Dragonflight.

Innervate is really strong as it is right now in dragonflight, don’t get me wrong. You can use it on yourself before spamming many expensive spells before a big damage event and save a lot of mana like that, but I really really miss the freedom of just regenerating mana. I feel like the classic version of innervate fits the resto druid “theme” a lot better where it is about regenerating things.

I am wondering why it was changed to the current mechanic when the way it was before was so liked (at least by me and other resto druids I know).

What do you guys think about the current design of innervate? Do you prefer the old design (regenerating mana) or the new one (freecasting)?

Cheers!

The old design makes 0 sense in todays game design. It would be a brainless button you just push anytime your mana was not full. The current innervate makes you plan to coincide it with your ramps to maximize it’s efficiency.

Old innervate is wayyyy better. Not sure why they changed it.

I like the concepts of both, but I can mitigate mana consumption with clear casting, and playing well. But I can’t mitigate 3 dps or w/e getting hit for 90% of their health bar, and wait for mana to regenerate and pray to the gods that things turn out well. I prefer planning my innervate for oopsie moments, or if i need to put my back brace on in a key to help peeps who get hit by things frequently. But if the world was perfect, regenerating mana would be nice once in a while, but tbh its sort of been replaced with the alchemist stone, or even the chill globe in DF.

I prefer current innervate over the original mana return just because it makes more sense with the current game and a lack of spirit/mp5 gear. But my actual favorite was bfa innervate with lively spirit.

It made innervate give free casts, returned mana depending on how many spells you cast and gave you a stacking int buff making it a pretty good standalone cooldown instead of something you combo.

innervate should def evolve somehow. i think it would be cool if it was a resource regen for all classes…would be a bit like PI i guess in that sense. but it would def encourage you to use it on others

there have been similar effects in the past, such as the Naxx 40 set bonus that gave rejuv a chance to recover resources for other classes.

I prefer the old design personally. The new one requires so much setup that I don’t even feel compelled to use it. Too complex for me.

The issue with the old design is that it would force Blizzard to balance our mana management compared to other healers with that spell being always present otherwise it would be broken.

I’m okay with the current design.

With the Flash of Clarity talent, Regrowth is 30% stronger when cast with a Clearcast Proc. If you have a Clearcast proc when you cast innervate, it does not go away, meaning that you can spam Regrowths that are free and 30% stronger. With the Undergrowth talent, you can Lifebloom two targets, which also dramatically increases the number of Clearcast procs, meaning that you don’t have to wait long for Clearcasting to become available. This has effectively given me a 3rd throughput cooldown on top of Tranquility and Convoke, making it easier to avoid having to talent into things like Flourish (I prefer Verdant Infusion) or Adaptive Swarm.

Wait, what? Too much setup? You press it when you’re about to go into heavy spam-healing phases because the damage is very high. You should be using it on cooldown during heavy healing periods.

The old design was essentially a braindead version which doesn’t help us benefit from Clearcasting procs (during Innervate they don’t get consumed).
