Inky Black Potion and an updated day/night system

If you have no used an Inky black potion and explored the world (of warcraft), you need to. It completely changes the dynamics of many zones. For those not aware, it puts you into a deep dark cycle as if you are in the middle of the night. It makes natural lighting and torches/street lamps, fires all more visible and important.

I encourage everyone to grab one of these and go explore, your major cities, zones, and battlegrounds will be completely revamped. My personal favorite is WSG.

An updated day/night system with revamped weather effects can make a massive difference and make the world feel more real. Please help push to make this a reality.

What I’d love is a day/night cycle that doesn’t follow the real life clock, so people in odd timezones (Oceanic players, cough) can experience day and night, and also so night itself doesn’t feel like a disadvantage.

This, and I want your player to be able to sleep on a bed to gain rested xp.

Only game that got the day and night cycle right was everquest imo…

I love the potion. It also helps bring out the highlighting of chest and quest items. With that said though, it’s affect pales in comparison to the true night we lost at the end of TBC.

I completely agree.

Yes, the eternal night of Oceanic realms is making me a bit depressed, tbh. Only if I’m up at odd hours do I see Azeroth’s lovely blue skies and the Isles at their most beautiful. :’( I would be inclined to explore inky black pots a bit more if there was something similar for day vision (I do not think the 24 hr cd toy or the 10 timeless currency a pop sunwarmed sand is a reasonable option).

It’s sad that Vanilla wow had a better day/night cycle and weather affects than current wow.

I so miss it. The potion makes it darker but not as dark as it was. I can’t tell you the stacks I have of it though and I use it all the time going by my irl day/night cycle.

I love that potion. My only problem with it is that it replaces the sky rather than just making it darker. For example, that beautiful skyscape in Highmountain is just replaced with plain stars. Other than that though, I love it. It drives me nuts that night is so bright in this game.

Day/night cycles in WoW should have neeever followed real-world cycles.

Most MMOs have their own cycles so you can experience day/night, within an hour or two at most, and I feel like this makes the game feel much more dynamic. It would also open itself to special racials and abilities related to cycles in-game.

Additionally, the twilight of our in-game night right now isn’t night at all, and that’s depressing. It’s literally the same brightness as day, but with a blue color palette.

My personal favorite place to use this potion is Tol Dagor. The lighthouse stands out so much more than it does in the normal gloom of the dungeon environment.

Atal Dazar also gets oddly glowy with all the gold and spooky. Really drives home the Zandalari themes.

I wish the would amplify the darkness of night on surroundings a bit more. Not making it so you can’t navigate but change it so it’s less of a daytime with a dark skybox.

Arathi Basin becomes really glorious as a battleground with one of these potions!

I would love day night cycles back, and as for the worry of certain people only palying at night but dont want to see night time all the time just make certain realms on diffrent day night cycles.

It’s really too bad we have to pay for night. Blizz really should just make actual dark night a toggle, like stronger weather effects.
