"Initializing" patch size (600MB) larger than patch

Why do I always have to download 450-600MB during “Initializing” just to download a 100MB update?

This might seem like nothing to the majority of players, but as someone living in a 3rd world state here in the US, that’s like 40 minutes of downloading, just to get to the actual update.

My download was 20 times faster than dialup. 28k…
484kps for 50 meg.

I downloaded a file in 1987 that was 1200bod. Took a hour at 17c a min.
Good times.
