Infusion Procs: FoL vs Judgment

Hpals, for mana and healing efficiency in arenas, which one do you prioritize using your Infusion of Light (IoL) procs on: Flash of Light (FoL) or Judgment?

I’ve heard Cdew say FoL is better because it’s free. However, Judgment goes from a .06% mana cost to a .01% mana cost with IoL, so it’s basically free.

However, I’ve seen Reece do a ton of healing with Judgment and do it petty efficiently. Plus, it generates 1 HP by default, where FoL needs a talent point to give HP. But I can’t ignore that FoL can be a fat heal for literally 0 mana.

One of my big questions is whether the absorb Judgment creates is affected by Dampening or not. That would be a big factor against FoL.

Of course, the main downsize of Judgment is it doesn’t top health bars, so there’s the obvious advantage to using FoL to get people topped.

However, the main downsize is the time it takes to cast and the risk of getting kicked.

Another question: is the Judgment heal affected by Mastery?

Finally, I just haven’t done the math on which one actually heals for more with IoL, and I’m on a trip and can’t just open up WoE. Can someone post the numbers here?

Thoughts?

Usually FoL is better because Judgement places a debuff on the target to prevent X amount of damage they do, which isn’t controllable onto which target they plan to attack.

If you Judge a warrior who is Bladestorming, all that prevented damage could be soaked by Pets, or off targets.

FoL inherently costs more as well, and doesn’t refund mana, so a FoL + Judgement combo would be:

  • FoL = Free
  • Judgement = 6000
  • Total = 6000
  • FoL = 9000
  • Judgement = Free
  • Total = 9000

You’ll end up saving more mana by pressing FoL, but also take into consideration over healing and what % health your target is. If your partner is 100% HP, it’ll be better to Judge and not cast FoL at all.

That’s a really good answer. I appreciate it. Thank you!

So it sounds like both are valuable, but both with particular drawbacks and advantages.

Honestly, I like that. It is a sign of good design to have your buttons be circumstantially beneficial, instead of one just being the inherently better button to press.
