Infurious Pieces

for reference, since i’m not seeing it anywhere else in game, the pvp vendors don’t appear to have them, and no one’s bringing it up around here

there’s a series of armor pieces called “Infurious” x pertaining to each class in DF
appears to be boots that we care about from what i’ve seen so far
and they all give back the 5% that was taken away from trinket 2pc, and also scale like pvp gear to 424 (doesn’t appear to be a blue version from what im seeing) which means they’ll replace glad gear, and if you can get your mitts on them, also removes boots from the gearing process
for example

these stats are static and there doesn’t appear to be any other stat versions of them, and from what i can tell, you can’t modify them with missives either (L)

you get the picture (literally)

so what’s acquisition look like?
well as you can see, they’re BoP
now normally this is where we start raging that blizzard is forcing “x” on us again, in this case it would be professions

BUT

with the new work order system, you can request soulbound crafted items, you basically punch in what you want, and if someone is capable of making them, you pay cost and it’s essential CoD’d to you

but that’s also the bad, if you don’t have a lot of gold to throw around, i can only assume people will realize PvPers will really want these, and will charge accordingly

if you don’t farm your own mats (using soulbound mats btw) and make it yourself, or pay what will likely be large amounts of gold, you’re essentially going to be gimping yourself
idk about you guys but i don’t routinely have a lot of gold laying around and i really don’t want to give up engineering, too fun/convenient of a profession

i personally don’t feel like becoming an AH tycoon just to get the extra 5% that was originally on the trinket bonus, and i don’t want to drop engineering

i realize this 5% might not feel/look like a lot, but absolutely anything helps and i haven’t done the math on it yet, but there may be breakpoints with the extra 5% that enable more counterplay into chain heavy comps (like rmp) that you dont get with only 2pc from trinket

maybe i’m flipping out over nothing, maybe not
would like to get some feedback from you guys on this

my feedback is that next xpac i’m gonna schedule at least 5 hours a week holding these grubby little crafters heads in the toilet every time i find a boost to earn the gold this is gonna cost me

the obvious tinfoil hat theory is to drive token sales from lazy pvpers who don’t want to do callings or whatever the new daily system is called that spits gold out at you
and after seeing the monetization scheme of ow2, i can’t help but feel there’s some merit in that nowadays

I think the legendary system in sl was a way for them to drive token sales.

This doesn’t seem like that though. It’s still an mmo with a grindable ingame currency and at this point in the game, there’s a couple hundred ways to make easy gold now. They are returning boxes for winning bgs again so pvpers might have a decent way to make a little passive gold by simply pvping.

im not saying that’s the inherent goal by any means, but rather it’s a by-product of putting a pvp bonus in the crafting system with no other ways to obtain the boots
it’s a weird choice to me and for newer players, how would they even know they exist beyond someone bringing it up in passing or them searching through unlearned profession recipes
im just not really sure having a competitive piece of gear being solely locked to crafting is overall a good idea, is what im saying

that being said
at least there’s blue and green crafted sets
