Inflation paired with shrinkflation is bad enough IRL, why must we suffer it in-game too?

We got less story to get less dungeons per season so idk what to tell ya

See one note above.

8 dungeons per season is the normal amount though. In fact, we used to get 10 total dungeons for 4 seasons (back before the dungeon rotation), so it was actually much lower than it is now.

See legion and bfa

It’s wild that when people complain about inflation IRL they blame it on their government printing too much money, but then when they complain about inflation in WoW they demand that the devs print more money.

10 total dungeons for 4 seasons is only 2.5 dungeons per season, as opposed to the 8 per season we get now.

Yeah… a lot of people don’t get how economics work. Either because they don’t like it or because they go “It is a game, lalalalala” and ignore the fact that MMOs are player driven… meaning that players engaging in trading will include some kind of monetary trade - whether that be goods or currency to facilitate the ease of trading.

It is mind boggling to me when folks say these things.

I don’t do any of that content, I just hit rocks and sell ore and PvP when I’m not doing the first thing.

Tbh this is highlighted even more so now.
They nerfed world gold gain, which forces you to buy and sell on the ah and interact with other players (even if it is just transactionally on the ah) for your gold now.

Tbh I don’t really see a problem with it. Even just killing stuff and minor gathering, you get a pretty massive net positive.
But even doing the weeklies and world content still give you a nice chunk of gold.

You just dont get handed thousands of gold willy nilly anymore, which I think is what upsets most people lol.

You seem to be confusing inflation with hyper-inflation. Inflation is when the price of goods and services goes up. Hyper inflation is when we have a surplus of money to combat inflation which only results in the value of the currency going down. We are not seeing the latter here and are in fact seeing the opposite. We are seeing the price of essentials such as repairs going up, but the amount of raw gold going into the game via WQs and other activities has gone down. I’m not even talking about the prices of flasks/enchants/consumables which is controlled by players.

We are seeing shrinkflation in that we get less for doing the same things we’ve done in the past (e.g. dragonracing), despite the cost of living (repair costs) going up. This isn’t a difficult concept, sorry you couldn’t keep up. Instead of getting a cost-of-living adjustment, we got a demotion. And apparently you and others are more than happy for it.

M+ should give you the cloth, gold, greens and other stuff you would have gotten running it on heroic in the final chest at the minimum.

In order to fight the inflating price of goods, they have to remove gold from the economy while limiting new gold coming in.

Being snarky is a good way to get a forum vacation btw

1920’s Weimar Republic, the MMO.

There are way too many people in this game who have stockpiled a whole treasure trove of gold having played for a decade or more. This is a really common problem you run into in MMOs or just games with economies that have been running for ~20 years.

Gold rewarding world quests offer 800g this expansion. You generally get 2 or 3 up at a time and they reset half way through the week. Your primary weekly quest gives you 1600g as well.

On top of selling stuff on the AH and passive gold from other events in game, you have more than enough to cover your repairs.

Blizz doesn’t set the player economy. Players do. You’re more than welcome to farm your own mats.

I honestly never relied on WQ’s for gold making. It was never really worth it to me. I simply just go do my dailies and gather herbs (plenty of gold from herbing). YMMV but its more than enough for repairs and still banking quite a bit. Am i getting gold capped this way no. But that has never been my goal.

The guy who came up with the Indestructible modifier learned no one cared about it and was deeply upset.

This I can agree with. It feels pretty bad to have a bunch of knowledge points spent on “find X% more cloth from humanoids” that’s completely wasted because I’m doing M+ now instead of untimed dungeons.

Even better, they were snarky with you, but didn’t understand what you laid out.
Its a pretty simple concept.

Guild gold rewards is also an issue. My guild is large and we have multiple raid teams. I had to turn off guild repairs completely for the first time recently because we were burning through guild gold at an unsustainable rate.
