Inflated Classic Profession Costs?

I’ve been trying to get an answer about this for a while; a Blue post would be awesome. It has to do with the cost of training any of the Classic professions. I’ve been trying to find out if this incongruity is a glitch/error or done on purpose?

So, same as anyone, when I open my Profession Window I can look at unlearned recipes and hover over the ‘i’ info icon and it will show me what it costs to train that recipe. However, when I go to the trainer, the cost listed is anywhere up to 550% more. Keep in mind, I’m at ‘Revered’ reputation with the faction of the profession trainer.

I took some screen shots of four recipes, where I compared the price listed in my Profession Window to the price listed in the Trainer Window. I’ve seen this discrepancy at multiple trainers in multiple locations for all the Classic professions, not just Blacksmithing. Take a look at these screen shots for yourself: (I don’t believe I can post imbedded images, so feel free to copy and paste these links)

Wowhead lists the Green Iron Helm training cost as 12.50, so I would report it ingame as a bug: https://www.wowhead.com/classic/spell=3502/green-iron-helm

Is it really worth the effort? It’s a few gold. By the time you’re level 30 or 40, quests are giving you well over 10 gold usually.

If it’s a bug, or glitch, yes of course - why wouldn’t it be worth the effort to get it on the fix list? I realize it’s just that way of thinking that would have it in the super low priority column though, Kaethleah.
I felt like training the Classic patterns on all my toons - nostalgia maybe. But when dozens of recipes that are supposed to cost 15s - 1g 20s, now cost 35g - 60g per recipe, it really adds up. It ends up being more than “…a few gold.” It starts turning into several hundred gold per character to train a Classic Profession.

So Jere, your impression too, is that it’s a bug? Alright.

I’ll bet you a beer they intentionally raised the price as a gold sink.

And you know, that’s totally possible - just can’t seem to find an answer either way. So, guess I’ll just see what happens.
