Infinite loop of the trilogy

I just want to play the trilogy over and over again. Restart every 5 or 6 years because this game just doesn’t get old. Especially when you have 2 expansions to add different flavor. Even if wrath is the weakest, I would still play it a crap ton. I hope Blizz does this.

TBC is when it started getting worse.

E.g.:

Flying. Disconnected world. Raised level cap. More formulaic dungeon design. Less dungeons for the sake of the story. Shared hub between factions. No uncontested territory. Etc. All bad.

It’s less dungeons because it’s only ten levels of content not 1-60 dude LOL. Has nothing to do with ‘story.’

Had to disconnect the world to make flying work otherwise there’d be invisible walls everywhere going from flying to non flying zones.

Why would a 60-70 zone be uncontested in a foreign land; like, you just said the issue is story. This is hinged on story.

Good grief, just have fun dude.

While I’m not sure I’d agree with all of this, I think there is some merit to what you’re stating.

I feel that there’s another often overlooked aspect that is (or was) the leveling experience of Vanilla, and maybe not quite equally, but additionally of Classic 2019 where it was such a large part of the main content that having HC servers where (I would guess, though am possibly quite mistaken) the vast majority of the playerbase never does end-game content.

And that brings me to the point that as we progress through expansions, rushing to end-game and mostly (eventually) queuing for end-game content leans WoW away from its RPG roots and more towards lobby gaming, whether that’s a negative or positive thing.

While I think TBC is still a great expansion, I definitely agree; it set the standard for all expansions that would follow, rendering everything prior completely irrelevant.

And yeah, as convenient as Flying is, it ultimately killed a lot of the immersion of the game.

If we could go back in time, I think it would’ve been good if each expansion just introduced new leveling zones, but keep things largely similar in scale, building off of Vanilla’s raid progression. Maybe increasing the level cap by like one level at a time, but rather than just continually “better” gear, you get more items that are just “itemized differently”, or more specialized or ultra specific uses. Honestly, maybe have kept Resistances as a core part of the game when breaking into new content.

Perhaps with the benefit of hindsight TBC is isn’t as bad as I may have made it out to be in the past. WoD gets more credit.

While I still would have preferred to not leave Azeroth at all, TBC is a good part of the “trilogy”. Replays are fine too.

I’m a big advocate for the availability of Era servers for all versions of WoW. However, imagine if you could roll a character on Vanilla Era and then, at a time of your choosing, migrate that character to the other Era servers.

I think it would be fun to play through the entire run of the game that way.

They are doing this. They said that this was their plan before Classic even launched when the private server guys went to Blizzard HQ for a meeting.

A+ vibe check.
