So I have five level 80s all expect this toon has engineering. I really don’t want to drop max Enchanting but I know how powerful Engineering is and I decided to main my Mage. Any 5-heads know how much of a dps gain I’d (roughly) gain with Hyperspeed Accelerators over +46 static spellpower? I guess I can just sim it when I am able to tommorow.
What’s your other profession?
Not a lot, but engi has a lot of other benefits too.
Yes the rocket boots are also very good with the crit and speedboost, which is invaluable and I figured when making this toon I’ll be good enough with just blink😂
So you would have rocket boots AND blink. Rocket boots alone can be worth the swap in mechanic heavy raids but with the short cd on the gloves it is hands down the BiS profession for those looking to squeeze out all they can.
Engineering for 2 things
- Nitros
- Haste proc gloves.
Overall dps from gloves is prob like 100 at most.
On my hunter, I went Pyro Rocket instead of haste and it’s literally 50 dps loos per FULL BISS ICC SIMS.
But with enchanting, you get SP chants. Which still contribute to your overall DPS.
You really don’t really need Nitros as much in ICC as you do for Anub. P3 is almost over.
I wouldn’t,
Engi also has bombs, AH in Dal, wormhole, bank/mail anywhere and an insane amount of other random stuff that’s occasionally useful like MC cap, cloaking device, etc.
What is your other profession. Enchanting engineering is a good combo.
But dropping enchanting for engineering while a gain, might not be worth it unless you truely want min max.
Engineering is definitely a fun profession as well.
Alchemist on my main. So I get improved and longer flasks.
I literally went engineering only for Anub on my main and 2 other alts.
Replied to the wrong person sorry.
But there will be plenty of fights in icc that nitro will be strong on.
Nitros , of course, has tons of uses. And on every boss it could come in handy for one reason or another.
It’s just with Anub, it almost feels necessary to extend spike kiting. Every second counts in that fight.
- Marrow - Flames tick instantly, so i wouldnt bother with nitros there.
- Lady - I suppose melee could use it to dodge ghosts?
- Lootship - To get back to the ship faster one time?
- DBW - kite ads, but they are meant to be slowed so idk. Maybe?
- Festergut - to stack under spore faster? eh meh
- Rotface - Could be used to kite oozeling to tank faster…That’s a decent use-case for Nitros.
- PP - Nothing really. Nitros won’t save you from orange ooze.
- Keleseth - sure…i guess…to kite the orb and recover from accidental knock back? Perhaps.
- BQL - to stack faster on link? Maybe.
- SIndy? Just to get behind the ice quicker? or position the tomb?
- LK…um…I suppose yeah.
But those are just use-cases and not really mandatory.
Also, if you’re quitting WoW after Wrath, then yeah, swap over. But if you’re sticking around for Cata, I’d think twice. I will already have to re-level my Herba right before.
it’s [Engineering: Hyperspeed Accelerators] VS [Enchanting: Enchant Gloves - Exceptional Spellpower]+ 2x [Enchanting: Enchant Ring - Greater Spellpower]
So 10%haste for 12sec (1min cd) VS 74 permanent Spell power
-if you’re only considering static dps ofc constant 74spell power is better than constant 2%haste if considering that 10%haste for 12sec as 1min cd is base 2% constant.
-and yes on papers(sims) the constant 74 spell power will lead to 40~50dps increase than the 340 for 12 sec 1min cd
but on reality Hyperspeed Accelerators will be more beneficial and would lead to more dps under many conditions such as bursting, timing on use based on encounter, and it will allow you to reach GCD soft cap, so the hyper speed accelerator isn’t about the dps itself it’s about controlling your dps for the period of time you choose.
not to mention that engineering have other utility’s like bombs / nitro, some will say that none of this is ever needed for classic but it depend on what guild you’re in, are you aiming to compete in speed runs? cus nitro will be needed! are you aiming for fast boss’s kills cus hyper speed will be needed for exaction.
nitro is a must for defile
for classes that doesn’t have teleport/blink/speed.
at certain point raid will be stacked for valyk’s and a defile is coming, so whoever getting defile cast must nitro away from raid, Blink can work so probably a mage won’t need nitro for that.
but in general in all icc encounters! a mage won’t need nitro, and most what you mentioned can be easily avoidable in certain tactics if the raid is using it, icc hc is really a joke anyway but many people will struggle because they aren’t prepared and never practiced.
iirc, with Defile, you do have a few seconds or something. But yeah. You stack those pools iirc.
Going off of my memory.
it’s a 3sec cast, still not enough to move away without blink/teleport/speed.
with nitro you just drop it away near throne super easily and because of your run speed it won’t even have/leave 5y range pool where it got placed at but nitro is a must for that tbh.
