Incursions: why so complex?

Any particular reasons couldn’t just be accept quest, share quest, do thing, return? What’s the upside to this business of deputization and letters and w/e. I have done some rounds of incursions, do not understand at all what i was doing.

Edit: prob wouldnt be a big deal but people would rather not take you or log rather than attempt to explain it. Just another perk of WoW Classic: The Social Experiment

There is already a “share quest” button, i don’t get why we need a special item lol.

The system is very contrived and strange.

Do a guild run or start a beginners group.

Really dumb like it’s crazy how little thought from a player point of view ever gets put into anything in SoD

If it was the normal way then people would just sit outside the zone going “WTS Quest Shares all 18 shares PST!”

It’s a bit obvious it would function that way.

I’m pretty sure their reasoning for the new “share” system is to prevent people from just having the gathering quests and sharing it over and over and over and over instantly, and allowing people to hit level 50 in 5 minutes by turning in 3000 of the gathering items that they purchased from other players.

That being said, their current sharing system is utter garbage. Why even require it to have a target and why charges? Also having to have your whole inventory be temporarily screwed over while you’re trying to figure everything out is pure cancer.

You can’t share button because the quests are able to be finished an unlimited number of times. If they were shareable you’d buy up thousands of Fools Dust/Dragon Scales/Dreamroot for cheap from players and party up with a person that has that quest and just stand next to the NPC spamming a turn in macro while they spam share and level to 50 in 5 minutes

The deputizing badges restrict it such that you can at most share the quest exactly 4 times to make sure a full party can get it but no more

Incursions are awful. Terrible design, I honestly question the motives of everyone responsible for putting this into this game. It’s like they’re trying to push Classic SoD players into Retail style gameplay. Yuck!!!

That sounds like a blizzard’s problem. Not ours lol.

It’s not even retail style. If it was retail style it would be better. It could be like the emissary system where you can save up to 3 days worth, go to each incursion zone, do the quests and be done.

But nah, we get this scuffed pseudo-classic pre-daily quest zone nonsense lol.

The deputizing crap is stupid and annoying. Plus half of the quests are bugged to hell. Clearly P3 wasn’t ready but they released it anyway.

the deputization isn’t for our benefit imo, it creates more steps for bots to potentially mess up. Personally find it annoying and the bag space it takes up is just dumb

In my OP I made a point to specify that I had done them, a few times. I did them with my guild. You’re usually better than this.

I read the last sentence.

Imagine how deeply that cut.

Its a sign of how half-baked and ill-conveiced this event was from the very beginning. Everything about, any one thing you look at, is bad in some way; boring, broken, annoying, mindless, unfair, awkward or just plain stupid.

They definitely did it to counter the situation where one person has every quest and just shares them with the group each lap. It also pushes people to do these in groups to get more quests which is a fair enough design goal.

However, it comes at the cost of clunky mechanics. I personally hate the BoP loot confirmation button that I have to click twice every time I open a missive. Keep them untradeable for all I care, just let me loot them faster.

its pretty goofy and confusing the way they put this in. On the other hand with the star clicky thing, it really speeds up a smaller group (even of just a 2 man team). Here I’ll explain why I say that…

lets say you and a buddy are just doing the non kill quests (since the mobs are too hard to kill for you 2 guys) and you do the entry quests and you get the envelop recue soandso and your buddy gets the other recue soandnotso. Boom! You guys hit the lotto, so you sit at the bottom of the ramp - go have a beer or coffee, come back (both your 2 quests are completed) - run back turn in… each click your own star on the other guy - sit at the bottom of the ramp - boom win - run back and click your stars again (I think there are 5 or 6 charges on those)

you basically can just run those 2 quests back to back doing no work except for lots of drinking and running up the ramp to turn in = win

while waiting for others to save those 2 people, you open your quest reward thing and find the 3rd or maybe 4th (if there is 4) recue quests and now DOUBLE BOOM - 3 or 4 quest turn ins for no work just perserving the name of ashenvale to AFKvale from phase 1 rep grind
