Hi All,
Just got a new Mac mini, M2 Pro. Game looks beautiful playing on it, but I have extremely high lag upon entering the game. nothing else running in the background, speed tests are showing my connection is solid. No idea where to turn next. Any ideas/help would be appreciated.
thanks!
Ran a trace route and path ping. Not sure how to read these, but looks as though my connection gets hungup at the same spot every time. thoughts on this being a modem issue vs ISP issue vs wow connection issue?

Sorry for the multiple replies. This only seems to be an issue when loading anything world of warcraft related. I’m able to load other games/websites with much greater speeds. Even the WoW website runs slow for me while others load instantly.
Welcome to the club, pal.
I’m exactly with this kind of problem since 10.0.5 patch release, blizzard is trying to look into it, but support only blames my ISP.
Same things as you, i don’t have any problem with any other game, nor program, etc.
The only problem here is WoW and only WoW.
Download the PTR if you have an account, or Classic, check if there’s lag/delay there.
Spoiler alert, you won’t have lag. It’s only in live retail servers.
You’re experiencing packet loss at the router level. The very first thing you should do is reboot both your cable modem and router in that order. If you have a combo gateway that was provided by Cox, reboot that unit. Note that if it also services your phone lines, you’ll be without phone service until it finishes rebooting as rebooting the entire device also reboots the EMTA portion.
If you can resolve the packet loss at the router level your play should become normal.
The loss on your hops are really, really bad.
Not kinda bad. Not a little bad. Really bad.
I’m having choppy/fps issues, even in leveling zones where I’m the ONLY person…it was fine when I came back for DF, but then after 10.5 it really went south…
I can appreciate the loss on my hops are bad, but it is seemingly isolated to just wow. No other game, streaming service, or website encounters this issue. I have Cox internet if that helps. I have another modem I’m going to try and get connected, but I foresee the problem being the same.
Sorry for the delayed response. I don’t have much time throughout the week to troubleshoot this stuff. Trying to get on top of it today, but so far it’s pretty miserable and isolated to just wow.
It may seem like it’s isolated to just WoW, but it isn’t. The fact that a pathping trace shows the packet loss means it’s happening at all times since pathping is not a part of WoW.
