Increasing Black Lotus spawn made things even worse

Just a quick note: Blizzard’s solution of increasing Black Lotus spawn rates in Classic Fresh servers a few weeks ago did not have the intended effect.

Instead of improving availability for players, the auction house price has actually gone up from 120g (before the patch) to 180g now on NightSlayer

The problem is that this change only benefited bots, which can now farm even more Lotus. Legitimate players have no chance to gather them anymore because the spawn locations are permanently camped by automated accounts.

A real solution would be to implement mechanics from future expansions, such as making Black Lotus randomly appear as a bonus in high-level herb spawns. Another option could be adding them to the loot tables of high-level dungeon bosses. I don’t know, but something different needs to be done.

What do you guys think? Have you noticed the same issue on your servers?

just bring a toon of opposite faction and clean the bots out.

I saw one zip underground below me not too long ago. Guess I need to learn to hack too. :+1:

you want to design around the bots instead of banning the bots. It seems you’re condoning botting if you wish to normalize them and process them in…

The bot banning will be the final solution ofc… but that ship kind of sail long time ago.

You said the thing. On the classic forums.

Ya shouldn’t a did that.:sunglasses:

he didn’t have to post that :expressionless:
it’s too late to delete it
now we all have to live with it

i mean he might have point if bliz isnt going to police botting. they are like 3g on sod.

The problem is the bots are actually fly hacking and picking the lotus from underneath the ground so they can’t be killed. There are many videos of this where a priest uses mind vision on them and they are obviously fly hacking + botting.

I think the random chance to drop from high level bosses is the best fix but it needs to be done only on bosses that can’t be botted themselves. UBRS bosses are a good candidate but even the last bosses of strat/scholo could work.

Another idea is make black lotus drop from instanced mobs like the elemental trees in dire maul east on the upper balcony. These are hard to kill solo so botting wouldn’t be able to farm them.

Ultimately the root of the problem is increasing the lotus spawn rate has only further enriched the people who were already getting lotus and they have been careful to not tank the price. The lotus mafia is still winning and selling their gold with RMT.

really? every single lotus is picked by a flying and/or underground bot? :expressionless:

I agree with you but that’s why we have a live subscription, for a payed service that should take care of that.

we should not find ways to inconvenience bots, or design the game in ways that affects bots and players to try to disrupt the bots. The service providers should squish the bots with no impact to us.

That is the expectation that should be set and that it the service quality we should be demanding.

I think that once we begin to learn to live with the bots with the ideas you suggest, the interest in removing them simply goes away and they become part of landscape. I am not prepared to accept that.

If you do that they just mass report you until you get automated banned.

so we’re also afraid of the bots.

brilliant.

Well it has been happening for years, farming the bots outside of stratholme got a bunch of people mass report bans by the bot owner. They have all the power.

I don’t play on PvP realms, but on principle I’d be okay with that ban. I’d raise hell in appeals though.

seriously, if that’s how my time in wow ends, I’d be okay with that.

in fact, i half have a thought to make a warrior or rogue on the pvp realm and kill bots for fun. What faction and class should i be?

Thats another issue, blizz just uses their own AI/Bots for customer service instead of actually seeing the issues with human eyes to know how bad things really are…

tons of false bans/exploitative targetted bans and all you get is a AI response telling you tough luck.

The change that most people want, but in the interest of…I don’t know. Something! The change we will not get.

It’s absolutely asinine, Aggrend is actively letting us down and the Classic team seems to not care.

It’s truly disappointing.

You want a true fix, make the nodes work like in GW2 where if you gather something, it disappears for you, but it’s still there for everyone else. That would drop prices real quick when everyone can get their own herbs and ores, and can’t be interfered with.

I think a good solution would be to have a chance for a black lotus to spawn in DM east “jump runs”. DM already has proven to tank the market in other herbs. Making the lotuses instance based allows the general population the opportunity to farm these without bot interference. Maybe 1in 5 chance. Idk but something needs to be done.
