Would the rest of you all want to see an increase to EXP for the next SoM?
I am not here to complain about the current EXP increase as I’m happy they at least gave us something. I am just wondering if the rest of the community would like to see a quicker leveling time for the next SoM (assuming there is one) ?
There are many different ways leveling could be faster without just giving us 2x or 3x rates.
We could have a 40% for all exp buff (mob kills and all) be added to replace the current buff.
I guess overall I personally just felt that the current SoM leveling speed was a bit slower than I hoped. 12 months from start to finish can go by rather quickly. I don’t want or expect to have a SoM that would make leveling from 0-60 in a day or two. I think its reasonable to invest 3 days in-game time to hit max just questing at a normal speed. I’m positive that some badass levelers out there that can do this currently. But as a regular joe just questing and doing dungeons for quests it would be much quicker. If I could level at that rate I would be making alts to play other roles or whatever. Ultimately it would extend how long I would play SoM by quite a bit.
Some people want 100%, some think it’s fine at 40%, some people level like normal.
At what point will the XP gain end and people will understand half this game is the leveling experience? I understand a 12 month life span is short but even so, rushing to end game is only going to end badly for the health of the game.
It feels plenty fast, to me. I normally have to do substantial mob grinds between quests every few levels in Classic. That hasn’t been the case, yet, in SoM.
I think it’s fine as is, leveling in Classic shouldn’t ever be something players just power through to get to max level like on Retail. Maybe a very small boost to mob experience of 5% or so next time would be okay if people really want more, but I definitely wouldn’t want things too much faster than they are now. The best part of classic is the journey.
I’m fully leveling a second character (partially a 3rd) and there is no way the questing should be any faster for this to still be classic. I am skipping entire leveling zones because the leveling is so fast that I literally outlevel the zone. It’s actually been interesting, I think I have done at least 50% different quests on the same character type (human mage, duh).
I know that some people are frustrated with having to reroll and therefore the questing is a grind (I’m having to do the same thing) but if SOM would have been managed properly and rerolls weren’t necessary then the quest XP would feel just fine to most people.
Honestly I wish all future “fresh” was always Classic unchanged + SoM, side by side.
So basically two products launch on the same day. Classic Original and Classic Revised.
Revised runs for 12 months, Original runs for 24 months. Keep the same phase lengths for Original and let Naxx phase run out a little longer in order to reach the cadence reset date. For every one Original, you have two Revised.
Revised has a lot more freedom for changes and class/mechanic revisions. Original stays the same no matter what. If they’re both being offered together, then there should be no argument against the philosophy of changes in Revised.
I know you’ve been championing this idea here for awhile, and I agree.
The game is better when people are leveling in the open world. Therefore I’m advocating for a configuration that places most of the population in the open world instead of in dungeons while leveling.
