Thinking about what could be the next SoM or a CE server. My preference is fresh CE.
Wondering if people would play on a version set at a much higher difficulty in the open world. Where mobs hit harder, have more health and you’d be wise to group up.
I love group synergy and it’s just more fun playing others, IMHO.
What do think? Would this be a hit or a flop?

This would be about the least popular of all possible configurations.

Fresh classic server imo with some of the QoL tweaks like the lotus change. I also really like the optional hardmode they added into ZG. If they add stuff like that into Era that would be amazing.

You could run a very simple experiment to see how popular the increased open world difficulty would be.
Recruit for a grey gear/no gear only leveling group and see how many people jump at the chance.
Protip: it’ll be you and one other guy who flakes after two days.

I think the devs should focus on cultivating the servers they have already created before any additional ones are made.

I would not be able to play on a server with forced grouping. I rarely have long chunks of time that are not subject to RL interruptions so I need a fair amount of soloable content.
I do still appreciate having the option of grouping, and I do so when I can, but if it were forced or coerced I would just not be able to play that version of the game.

I would absolutely be 100% on board with Changes like these (pretending I’d trust Blizz to make them).
And I actually think a good many others would as well, despite the grouping requirement.
I come from EverQuest and so the brain dead easy overworld is pretty disappointing, although of course significantly better than retail or anything beyond Burning Crusade really.
But remember you can already largely create this game play for yourself. I’m currently fighting orange mobs in duskwood Forest, at level 22. I’m probably a little too low, and my gear is trash, so it’s still too hard to be feasible, but with the level and a new sword it’ll be quite challenging.
Food matters, cooldowns matter, Etc. The only real downside is you have to skip so many quests.

If you ignored all thebmeta crap, you’d find the game to be a bit more challenging.
Imagine questing through Vanilla without Questie or a leveling guide. How about picking your talents based in what sounds fun instead of following a guide? Maybe even ignoring those BiS guides and just piecing a set together the old fashioned way…
Thet could be fun!

Porenn, I also came from EQ so no surprise we have this idea in common.
I’m currently leveling a different Paladin on Jom seeing how long I can keep the Soul of Iron buff. Doing this on a PvP server is of course ridiculous but what can I say, I’m having fun.
I’m always up for grouping with others and making it challenging. I tend to log on mostly early AM EST as I’m an early riser and it’s the best time for me.
Would love to get a community going.
