its an old discussion and I know some people don’t think we need more then 50. I don’t agree and its my play style to make different race/class combos. I just enjoy it, its my play style. Soon I’ll be out of slots, and I’d gladly pay real money for more (I dont need a 2nd account).
I know plenty are like me and have been asking for it, I just like have no limit to what I have. I want more and I enjoy making more. It would be great if they increased the limit beyond 50.
Congratulations, you’ve earned the right to make more than 50 characters! All you have to do it have a second account, with a second subscription fee.
I realize you say you don’t need a second account, but there’s good news on that front too! You can link both accounts! Yes, that’s right. You get to LINK both accounts! They even share mounts and tmog!
Just sign the dotted line here, and soon you too will be able to create more toons!
Those who have close to the 50 character limit aren’t people who consistently play all of them. They’re for RP that doesn’t happen all of the time, they’re older characters who have certain patterns or achievs we can’t get anymore, they’re for helping friends at different levels, etc.
There are a lot of reasons people have a lot of characters that they don’t want to ever delete.
It is not an addiction, it is not a sickness, it is not a mental issue. I’m so sick of this ignorance.
And no one should be forced to pay for a second sub if Blizz is going to continue to make AR and people will need more slots.
They can add slots to the store. $5 for 5 slots, maximum of 75.
How are there billions of people in the world with millions of different names?
They have to be either less picky than I or way more creative. Probably both. Not being able to snag a decent name has stopped me from making an alt more times than I care to admit.
Regardless of what you feel Blizz should, or shouldn’t, do … it’s the only option available currently to the player base. They’ve even made it so if you have two accounts it literally shares everything, which is the equivalent of having 100 character slots.
So, unless you work for Blizz specifically in the development department … then they’ll do as they see fit.
This being said, I agree it’d make things more convenient for the average player; however, as I stated already, this is the only option available. It’s also a lot more cost effective than what you’re proposing.
50 characters. 47 with unique names (Two I named on different servers really the same, but I want to change it). All because of Fantasy Name Generator, a site that generates names from practically every culture, movie, TV show, game, and real life in history. FYI this is just the 50 active ones. Due to the character cap, I have deleted probably twenty more characters. Most with their own names (Only two times have I ever used names such as Deathicchaos for an Undead DK, he’s gone now, and AmbernetteDK, she’s gone too now, (All while having a Mage named Ambernette, whom DK was named after).
Go nuts with it. Your welcome. It’s easier for me as I do a lot of writing and coming up with names, so I can see why you might have some trouble with it, but this site helps. Don’t just do white names, go for Indian, Malaysian, African, Australian, etc depending on the look you are going for.
I also tend to make stories for them, so it’s why it is easier for me.
Zachalos- For real? I was thinking about this last night, someone in another thread attempted to pass off 2 accounts as a good thing, and I kept thinking but what about all the achivements, mounts, allied races, tmogs, heirlooms, etc.
Not that I think I can do two accounts, honestly they should just increase the limit to 60. There’s plenty of reasons why we might need more.
Most likely the option isn’t gonna happen because the demand isn’t high enough, and audience is so niche. It isn’t worth it.
Plus the ability to have multiple accounts linked together nullifies this issue for that niche, and it makes them more money than simply offering more character slots to buy.
Is there a reason why people can’t pay for a subscription for a second account and link them so they share a BattleNet account? All achievements, mounts, etc. would be shared.
I do think if it’s a case of the cost of storing more characters, players only have so much room to protest Blizzard requesting that they pay additional fees before it’s essentially people asking for free stuff.
Currently, yes. But people aren’t asking for a current, expensive way. They’re asking for a new solution.
Please show me where someone said they had control over this? People are asking for a new solution and giving ideas on how to implement one. No one is saying Blizz absolutely will do this.
How? $5 flat fee for 5 more spots as opposed to $15 a month, plus paying for the game and the expansion.
Because it’s expensive and you also need to buy the game and the expansion and it takes two different logins to reach all characters.
Most MMO’s that offer purchasable character slots are generally F2P and only give like 1-3 to start. WoW gives you 50, which is huge. Plus the amount of accounts which actually hit that cap is probably astronomically low.
Ether delete some to make space, or make a new account. Those are the options Blizzard has given since launch.
Yeah, it’s a great tool for writers but everyone can use it, I think there’s like one ad or something, ther site is called fantasynamegenerator (But again can be any kind of names). Plus it saves people thinking you are having a child XD, because you are googling baby names for your characters.
I like the ingame one too, Elylvannia actually was from an ingame generator, as well as another elf named Feoreithis, personally I was cool with it, but it might just be the Elves that have nicer names. (Haven’t done it recently, mostly because I got so many names for so many characters in stories, that it also allows me to have names for this game. It helps I like to write fantasy, so finding names for Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, etc are quite helpful.
Sorry, rambling on now. But yeah, it can be easy to find 50 characters names once you explore some sites. (And some remain untaken on WoW).
“Now that they have their own they no longer have access to my mounts, allied races, heirlooms, etc.”
My cousin’s household have two accounts under one btag. The only issue we’ve noticed is their realID is screwy for communication; however, they share literally everything else. In fact, they’d go farm mounts in AH, for the warfront, and have two shots at getting a mount off the same mob. You can have up to 8 accounts under one realID.
I’m about to get ready for work, else I’d find a better source of the positives/negatives of having multiple accounts. Those are just the ones off the top of my head.
