Increase Character Limit for BattleTag / RealIDge

Can we get an increase to 14 or even 16 characters? We get the 16 limit for toon names in WoW.

My bnet uses my IRL name, which is fine, but as I want to expand friends that I’ve not met in IRL first, I don’t have a way to hide my IRL name. My actual username is 13 characters and I’m stuck with a limit of 12.

I put in a suggestion via WoW a couple times, but that is only for WoW, and I can’t find a place to make a bnet specific suggestion.

And I think the character limit is 16 for character names, but I only read that somewhere. Maybe it is 12. Either way, could we at least get the increase for BattleTags? All of my stuff is the same minus the one for here.

If you are talking about your Battletag, it isn’t fine. You need to change that right away.

btag shouldn’t be your real name

It’s visible in some scenarios

No no no no no!

Don’t ever put that as your irl name!

If you want to add your irl friends send your friend request via real id and use battle tag otherwise that’s not your name!

You seriously should change that, ASAP. A BattleTag is used in a lot of scenarios and it is highly unadvisable to use your real name as your BattleTag.

If anything think of it as a nickname. If you like, just name your BTag to one of your favourite characters that you play the most in WoW.

That’s what I did. Mine has always been Thallia.

I didn’t goof up. I actually did it intentionally. I just started playing more actively and want to expand my friends on there. Also, potentially older than you, so kiddo may not be the best word.

But yeah, I’d like to change it to my actual username, but I need the 1 letter. 13 just is an odd number to have (and is also actually odd), but Blizz needs to allow that. I don’t use any other username. Though, ngl, my last name is rare and quite cool, but I don’t want it for that.

I did Dragula cause it’s my favorite song and my DK used to be Dragula.

That’s one of the hardest names to keep ><

That makes it even worse.

We have a character in our guild named Dragula and it throws me off every time, because I forget it’s not you.

You know how hard it is to get that name?!

As Misbecky has said,

While you may think it is cool, it does make it easier for people to… well, lets just say you don’t want to know.

You are not supposed to use your real name! Internet safety 101 is hide your real info as much as possible. The fact that your name is fairly unique makes it even worse because of how easy it would be to corroborate all of the right info to steal you identity.

You are using child like brain power so yeah… kiddo…

We are trying to help you protect yourself. Don’t be obtuse.

I’ve named mine Saracalia after the random name generator gave me when I actually created my warlock (this very warlock) on this BNet account. Though my BTag wasn’t Saracalia at the time, but did change it not long afterwards.

But again, the only people I have so far are people I know IRL, so I’m safe. But if I want to branch out and accept the pending requests I have, I need to update this to my username, but our usernames are supposed to reflect our online identity, and most tend to have them almost the same across the board for various services. I need another letter to have it.

Not hurting me with only having IRLs there and my name is also shared with a famous magician, though he does spell the 1st name differently.

You are missing the part where I ONLY HAVE IRL FRIENDS on my list so far. I believe I made that clear. If IRL people know me IRL, then that means they know my name, from work, school, or other IRL things. You know, outside of our homes.

So if reading comprehension is your issue, as you’re ignoring this fact, then maybe you are the child here because you’ve not done that?

I’m 100% not at risk with IRLs on my list. Well, we are never 100% not at risk, so I’m as safe as can be.

If you got to any other Blizzard forum, your btag will be shown to everyone.

Other forums use Btags. Plunderstorm used Btags. There are reasons why they tell you not to use your real name as a Btag.
