Blizzard, the world, the value of data, the corporate/government surveillance state, and how corporations compete has significantly changed in the last 11 years.

I am saying you do not have to have the sms and asking why are people complaining about the message when it just shows up when the bag is open .
I have a Samsung Galaxy s20 I paid $0 for on a 2 year contract. Who buys phones? Just pay your monthly $40 bill for 2 years and the phone is free. IF you’re already paying $15/month for wow, I’m sure $40 a month for a cell phone/lifeline isn’t a terrible ask. If it is, just get an android emulator and download the authenticator and use that. They give you a recovery code so if you lose your device or get locked out, etc, you can still recover your account and disable the authenticator until you get a new device, or just decide to turn it off for good.
The complaints here are honestly the silliest I’ve seen in a long while. Bring on the popcorn.
Edit: I should clarify that no, you don’t need a galaxy s20 to get an authenticator, I just want to preface that phones are not expensive if you take the right route. If you want no contract then buy a $60 phone from walmart, or a used Ipod touch or something.
And consolidating the authenticator with the app you use to chat with your friends and guildies (which steam’s mobile app does) is somehow this terrible thing? And I say this as someone who won’t use google search most days and was around when you could opt your google account out of data collection.
I don’t think that’s something they’re planning on because they’d have done it around the same time they updated the wow companion app.
Unrelated I wish you could use Authy for your authenticator, and I agree there should be an email option, most games have this.
Explain how are you being jerked around please. And don’t include me and many more as “people” in your example. I don’t mind the extra security to my account
I have a phone but during this time cannot afford to pay for phone service to enable SMS texts, nor would it be worth getting just for that. We realize Blizzard wants us to do this but they need to let us decide instead of forcing us to look at this ugly eyesore every time we open our bags.
There is, don’t use the authenticator, just that with this patch the bag slots are now always displayed with locked icons. The solution is bagnon or some other bags addon.
Yup, and I don’t use steam app either. And steam does their own form inconvenient incentives trying to get their “free” and “convenient” software on your phone.
Any time a TOS says “but not limited to” that means they’re reserving the right to do anything they want. They may not be doing anything bad but they’re reserving the right to, and once you tie your account access to their software being on your phone, you’re accepting what ever they may do in the future.
I expect unlimited, uncapped 20mbps speeds which I get. So I can do without 4 bag slots
OFFTOPIC~ Them pushing it to an available 20 slots blows up the “can’t change it or it will cause the universe to implode due to spaghetti code”!!!
I want a backpack the size of my other bags! Funky mismatched capacities drives me nuts lol

i don’t know why… but this topic reminds me of blizzcon and the mobile version of Diablo introduction…
I rather not give Blizzard access to my phone. A genius will create an addon to block the obtrusive bag slot blocks.

It is for those of us that live on a Disability pension like VA…if not for State of FL phone plan I wouldn’t have any cell phone least a smart phone…I only just recently got a Smart Phone cause my older cell phone from the State stop working and they replaced it with a very cheap smart cell phone.
I much prefer keyfob as its not connected too the internet like the Smart phone is.

Fair enough point. I guess I’m just used to locally where even folks on disability or things like workers comp can still afford things like that. Different countries different systems I guess =(
I have mine authenticated and actually still get a notification saying “here is your free 4 bag slots”. It’s kinda silly, I’m like yeah, I’ve them for a year now. Thanks.
