Incorrect Suspension

I know there have been a couple of times people have randomly received large amounts of gold through the mail. They came rushing here to figure out how to preemptively get it on the record that they don’t know who the sender was, that they left the gold in the mail and wanted to submit a ticket. I believe there was also one where someone who used Postal and it automatically looted the gold and they were in panic mode for fear of it being tainted.

Of course the SFAs couldn’t guarantee that either case was 100% safe from sanction, since they don’t do the investigating and such.

Heck, I know back when people were getting the single copper through the mail when a gold site was advertising and that was enough to send folks into a bit of a frenzy worrying about it flagging their account for illicit gold.

They could try, but Blizzard generally hires some pretty smart people, and over 19 years with this community means they have seen just about every excuse under the sun. How a player reacts to getting a large sum of gold is also crucial. As are conversations they have surrounding the transaction.

They are not dumb, and they see more than anyone realizes. Are they perfect and 100% correct? Of course not. But no, I have very little confidence that such a troll situation would ever result in someone not only losing their account, but having it hold up upon appeal.

These overly simplistic situations are just not how Blizzard conducts investigations.

trading IS supported by blizz, they created the trade button and the ability for players to trade gold amongst each other. if blizz doesn’t want people using the trade button, then they should delete it. when they say GDKPs are unsupported, that just means that they aren’t going to do anything if you get scammed

You are being pedantic right now. Using the trade window means nothing, it’s where the dirty gold is coming from that is getting people in trouble.

That’s the thing though. Illegal gold that is found to be illegal? It’s likely going to be disappearing from folks’ funds. The people buying runs aren’t the only ones who can get scammed. These people being sanctioned are being hit twofold - the removal of the gold, so they did the work for nothing. And also being sanctioned on top of it.

THAT is why boosts are unsupported. It’s risky business for everyone involved.

Honestly, I’m seeing the same sort of pattern as what Blizzard did with Multiboxing. I guessing down the road, GDKP runs will become unprofitable to run.

Because some people are buying gold from shady sites, and using it in GDKP’s while the people running them look the other way and go “oh I didn’t know they were buying gold” and repeatedly dealing with the same people.

If a pawn shop (the closest RL analogy) kept taking in expensive items from a certain person who was known to be a thief, the pawn shop would get raided by the cops.

If there is anything in game where millions of gold are changing hands, I would stay FAR away from it because there is a good chance that the gold is stolen and you’ll get caught up in it.

I think this threads run its course.

People will be less willing to run GDKP runs for fear of loosing your account because someone is using stolen gold! This is what it is coming too.
