Incorrect stealth animation on rogues. Please fix!

Old school rogue animations were much more smoother as you can see in this video. As a rogue player this was one of my favorite animations in vanilla and I really hope this will be able to return.

Just an fyi for people who don’t know, how fast you move in stealth dictates the walk animation. If you’re currently say level 40 and your walking animation in stealth looks normal and not you aren’t skating on ice, then you get the next rank in stealth and that increases your walk speed by say 5%, your animation changes.

So just because you’re seeing a regular walk doesn’t mean the “skating” is gone. Chances are it’s still there.

I see a lot of people posting this, but it is new animations for all the ranks now. So it is in fact a bug. lots of information in this reddit post from yesterday.

How can you tell if rogues are stealthed what their animation is?

What about Tauren rogues?

I’m a bit confused by your comment, but both links provide video showing the different animations. Undead is my favorite, but this is make or break for certain classes like male orcs. They just look wrong in stealth with the new animations Here is an example of the new orcs stealth animations.

It was a joke. And a free bump, since people seem to be more interested in…other issues.

If beta testers have already reported it and posted on beta forum then we will have to wait and see what blizzard response is going to be.

Oh well thank you. I haven’t been on the forums really in the past, but I haven’t seen this issue reported at all really except for that reddit post, which I made yesterday and that’s why I came here. Thanks for helping out brother.

Ice skating needs to return

I’m really hoping they use the old school animations. I plan on playing an undead rogue, they have an amazing in stealth animation. The “new” animations look… Well, kinda dumb.

I second this, Classic stealth animations are terrible, leg movement is way too fast, should be much slower and sneakier.

You and me both man. Something about it just feels so right.

I noticed a similar problem with undead mages and the cone of cold animation.
In OG Vanilla, if you cast cone of cold while you were hitting left strafe, the cone of cold animation would shoot straight out, where as in retail ( and beta) the cone of cold shoots to the side in the direction you are strafing ( which is left). Right strafe coc animation looks fine, but the left looks like it does in retail and that was one of my absolute favorite things about UD mages back in the day. =/
Here is how it’s supposed to look.

and Here is how it looks in Beta

Hopefully this will help both of the problems get noticed. Small changes like this are what make the game feel not quite like vanilla again. This is the stuff you see, but can’t quite tell whats off.

Wrong animations / wrong game play will need to be fixed.

It’s very suspect that they have a lot of bugs to fix.

Stealth animations were changed at some point in vanilla, right? I liked the earlier animations more.

They were changed in 2.0

Was it really that late? Might be so, then it would be a bug.

Yeah, they updated in some point of early TBC and remember the QQ from a few rogues because they changed how stealth animated and they were irritated.

Yeah it was a big nerf for rogues. Been a long time, hard to remember the exact time it happened.

I have zero issues with fixing it so the old animations return. But this quote clearly shows that people have no idea what they are talking about.

The old animations are clearly worse, obviously immersion breaking, and not good animation. Bias is bias I guess.
