Incorrect Quest reward Unable to change

So I recognize as I post this, it isn’t specifically a BUG report, but rather a way of not doing things in Classic that seems like there’s no real reason why.

I turned in my Onyxia head, and as a Rogue I took the Onyxia Blood Talisman instead of the Onyxia Tooth Pendant by accident. I clicked it too quick or was thinking about how I have it on my Warrior. Either way the deed was done.

Total time equipped was about 15 seconds. I opened a ticket immediately for a resolution which I figured would be a simple, destroy the item, I’ll get the correct item in the mail.

It was not to be, the GM told me that WOW classic doesn’t allow that, basically said I’m screwed. That to me seems ridiculous. Yes I messed up but that is a 40 man Raid quest that I completed, there is no line of “hey sorry you didn’t take Thrash blade” vs “sucks you wasted 40 people’s time on the wrong item” ??

Why is this not a thing that can be fixed? It seems so trivial a correction that can be made. I’m super disgruntled at myself, and at the fact that a simple swap can be conducted.

So I guess the bigger concern here is that in retail when item goofs are usually addressed in a positive manner for the player, why are we screwed in Classic, because I think that fixing mistakes like this doesn’t detract from the intent of Classic at all, it helps support that large community that came back.

They have never changed quest rewards for people that messed up.

Better level a second rogue.

ok bro the ony head quest isnt a 40 man raid. geeze tons of servers down her with 20 people and some with 15 people pugs. get a grip its not the end of your life. restore the talisman using item restore and hope for a goo d drop in p6 from aq.

Traditionally they changed quest rewards back in original vanilla.

Source: Was a GM.

And I am the Prince of Persia. No one cares because they don’t do it and won’t do it.

Yeah, they used to allow quest item swaps. Now with their overall reduced staff and higher use of automated tools, they no longer do.

Honestly it is kind of dumb. Especially in situations like that where it is a big deal for your character’s overall gearing strategy that you accidentally screw up.

And it’s why I’m bloody paranoid about picking important quest rewards.

Yep, it’s literally just because they don’t have the staffing they used to.
