I live in Australia, my WoW accounts are registered to US realms, and for some reason if I look at the store I’m shown the price in Euros.
Anyone have any clue why this is happening? I swear last year it was in AUD. In-game and in-browser it’s my own currency, but for some reason the Launcher thinks I live in the EU.
Okay, I tried using my VPN for that location and the currency prices were still correct. Is the address on your account EU? Or do you have something else on the PC that sets your location?
I can’t imagine why there’d be an EU address on my account… the only time I’ve ever had to use anything EU was for Starcraft. My WoW account is US, it says “Connected to: Americas” under status, my forum posts (obviously) only work on the US realms, every dollar I’ve spent in the bnet store to date has been Australian dollars…
Actually, if I open the normal shop on the bnet launcher it shows Australian dollar prices, but if I click the Sale button to see the Black Friday sales they turn into EU prices
I did some poking around at this and it may be a bug, however I noticed some EU activity on the account. This may mean the Battle.net Application is logging into the EU region which can cause the shop to show those Euro prices. Please do log out of the Battle.net Application by clicking the Battle.net logo in the upper left side and selecting Log Out. Above the Email field you’ll see a gear wheel. Click it and select Americas then log in again to test.
If you’re seeing this on the website, then scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see English. You will want to click that and ensure Americas => English is selected.
if this doesn’t explain what’s going on however and you’re not able to make a purchase, please do make a ticket so a Game Master can assist further. A bug report may still be needed but if this is preventing a purchase, especially during the sale, it’s worth getting a set of eyes on this.
I’ve logged out of the Bnet launcher and back in as you explained, but it still shows EU prices on the sales page.
I don’t actually know if it’s preventing purchases, I just wanted to browse and see if there was anything I did want, but the prices being in the wrong currency makes it difficult to tell. I don’t know if it’s worth making a whole ticket or report about when it may just be a cosmetic issue, though. My Bnet currently shows as Connected To: The Americas at the same time it displays EU currency in the Salves tab.
I’m not really sure what that EU activity you see on my account is, unless it’s the VPN playing games… the only time I remember logging into the EU version of Bnet is to play Starcraft II many years ago.
I have one last idea on this which is to reinstall the Battle.net Application and clear out all temporary data that it uses. This is more thorough than a normal reinstall and targets everything it may be referencing. That way we can at least rule out a problem with the app itself.
Do the same for %programdata%, %localappdata%, %appdata%
Reinstall the application. A fresh installer should be downloaded for this
If the problem continues and you’re also toggled your VPN on/off with this persisting, a bug report would still be appropriate if you want to get some developer eyes on what’s going on so it can be tested and addressed.
I’m unable to do that right this moment, but I am currently on a tablet with Bnet open and I’m able to see Australian prices even using the same VPN network as I have at home. So it seems to be something with my PC’s install.
I’m experiencing the same issue, I live in Canada and my shop prices in the Battlenet launcher were showing as Euros even though my account is correctly registered to Canada. I also use a VPN, and once I logged out of the launcher, paused my VPN and re-logged into the launcher, all the prices were displaying properly as CAD. Not sure if this will also solve your specific situation, but it seems to be an issue with using a vpn for me.
