Inconsistent FPS

Yesterday had generally been playing at 5~8 ish fps on my laptop, however i tried setting everything to the 1 scale in the system graphics tab and restarting my WoW client; this put me at 20-22 fps pretty much anywhere.

Now today I logged in and my worse FPS was back. I tried the method of changing the scale to 1 again and restarting the client nothing changed the FPS this time and am now stuck around 5 FPS again, tried selecting the option for “10” on the graphics slider and i actually gained about 2-3 FPS average so I’d see around 8 fps and lower.

About the only thing i can do to seemingly increase my FPS is play in top down mode, so with that camera angle I sometimes get around 12 FPS.

Accidentally discovered how to increase my FPS another way, which is having two wow clients open at once. This increased my fps to about 16 and runs smoother with two clients open at once.
