I try to log in and every realm is now incompatible???
That happens when your WoW is not patched up to date.
You’ll need to restart battlenet and see if it kicks off a little WoW patch, it is versions 12.0.1.66562

Logging out and closing down Battle.net wasn’t enough. I had to restart my computer for the client to do the update.

Mine is doing this now, not even restarting the pc gave me an option to update, so now what? Is there a way to force it or do I really need to uninstall?
edit to add i don’t use a vpn already
