As title says. Servers are up, but incompatible. Tried to restart bnet app few times.
Same. Had auto-update turned off and did not get an update button. Now incompatible.
I was getting the same issue. After a few Battlenet restarts it finally patched and I can log into the servers.
Just tried again to restart the app, still no patch. Unlucky
Hey there,
Incompatible servers means the game client is not properly updated to the correct version. We see this sometimes after minor version updates if something is preventing the Blizzard Desktop Application from running, downloading or applying update data to the game client. If you are running through direct launch or shortcut for the game which will bypass the Blizzard Desktop Application, make sure to launch the Blizzard Desktop Application and let it update the game client.
If you are running via the Blizzard Desktop Application and it is not updating try restarting the system and powercycling the network (turning off all network devices including the modem via unplugging the power for 60 seconds and turning everything back on.) then retest the Blizzard app. If there is still no update, then I recommend temporarily disabling any security programs or firewalls and if that doesn’t work try the following:
- Open file explorer/file manager (Right Click Windows Start)
- Navigate to the folder where the desktop application would normally be installed. Delete that folder if it exists (usually program files x86)
- Type the following into the address bar (not the search bar): %APPDATA% and press enter.
- Delete the Bnet and blizzard folders inside the appdata folder if they exist.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 with %PROGRAMDATA% %LOCALAPPDATA% and %TEMP%
- Empty the recycle bin.
- Now reinstall the app to the C: Drive.
that will clear up any bad data related to the Blizzard Desktop Application and should properly update the game client.
Looking through task manager background processes I had a background/zombie WorldOfWarcraft.exe running. After killing that and the battle.net update agent and restarting battle.net the update started.
This was the fix for me as well. Thank you!
