In the top 500 M+ Runs not a single one is on Tyrannical week

You need to be a fireman to tell me that your house is on fire…

Honestly, I think they should just merge the two and bake it into scaling. The problem isn’t that Tyrannical is too hard, or Fort too easy, it’s that the huge inconsistency in difficulty on a week by week basis makes people only want to play on easy weeks.

The best solution IMO would be to remove both affixes and make keys slightly harder instead.

If Blizzard are absolutely married to the idea of having an affix listed on sub-4 keys, just rename it “tyrannified” and call it a day.

wowranks is a poor resource to use for m+, raider.io is more comprehensive:

You can see the first highest tyranical run at #107, a +22 key too, well within the “top 500”:

And if you’re interested in all timed Tyranical week runs:

Tank here. I don’t mind Tyrannical, as much as I hate Necrotic stacks.
There are a few problems with necrotic:

  • Some bosses AA speed and running speed is too fast. It is impossible to outrun them to drop stacks (eg: 3rd boss PF)
  • All mobs, even summons apply Necrotic. (Eg: Gauntlet SD)

Talk about kiting meta. Every single run this week, Boomie was a must! Even had paladins for BoP’s. I had same comps for all my runs this week

  • (any healer)
  • Mage
  • Hunter for MD (so I can kite Necrotic)
  • Boomie for treants
  • Paladin for BoP.

This week is rough. Some bosses are harder than others.
Definitely stay away from Sanguine Depths lel

Even for mythic raid, people only want the illusion of difficulty. Nobody actually wants the game to be really difficult. There is a reason people only prefer meta classes. There is reason people prefer easier affixes. Nobody actually wants to play on hard mode. And it’s fine. Just wish the design team realized this, and the people crying for the game to be harder. There are definitely ways to make the game harder for yourself. But you don’t see people doing it.

  • Don’t use consumes at all
  • Bring only off meta classes
  • Cap your item level to a lower quality.

For all the crying people do about making the game harder. It’s really strange you never see them doing any of those things.

Wowhead posted an article yesterday showing world wide participation of m+ increased by nearly 50% on last weeks Fortified compared to the previous Tyrannical week. There’s a difference between fun and engaging difficulty and outright obnoxious difficulty.

You can have a perfect run with zero deaths or wipes and still deplete unless you nearly overgear the key level on Tyrannical weeks especially when it comes paired with more time consuming and degenerate affixes like bolstering (mobs live longer because you have to cleave evenly) + necrotic (tank is forced to kite more to clear debuff since mobs live longer due to bolstering strategy)

When even the best players in the game refuse (or are unable) to push for half the season there’s clearly something wrong with the system… not the entire player base.

I don’t think blizzard cares about key pushing above +15. So I’m not sure if this argument is actually very useful. But the number of keys run in any given week goes way down in tyrannical, which is probably something they’d care more about.

I would actually suggest removing tyrannical and fortified from sub 15 keys and replacing it with a 3rd affix. Merge them together and put that crap on 16+ keys.

Having multiple affixes that actually fundamentally change the dungeon week to week is more fun than just raw brick walls or damage sponges trash/bosses.

To be honest, they just need to get rid of Tyrannical and Fortified.

Put in a 3rd secondary affix. Like this week we’d have necrotic, bolstering, and grievous.

One affix per role with the seasonal one still at 10+.

Or make the level 10 affix tyrannical/fortified and have the seasonal one every week with 1 random one out of the rotation.

Honestly I’d rather have my first option.

Aside from re-tuning tyrannical (it seems a lot worse this expansion than the last two), you should have the option of adding either fortified or tyrannical to your key each week, and if you complete it you get extra loot.

Why is it a problem? They capped the rewards to +15 keys. Those can be done with random compositions on both Tyranical and Fort weeks.

There’s no need to balance content at a higher level than what you’ve planned for. You’re always going to run into a wall when the scaling is allowed to go to infinity. That wall occurring at slightly different places doesn’t matter as long as its after the place where rewards are capped.

Very few people are pugging +15s this week. It’s terrible.

Tyrannical is no joke.

I agree. Replace them with something more interesting.

Tyrannical and Fortified are such lazy affixes. The whole point of key levels is to add % health and dmg to mobs in the dungeon. Do we really need the base affixes to just add more % hp and dmg?

they could just dump the entire concept of tyr/fort, keep everything else as-is and things would be fine.

as it stands now, we have one week where we enjoy pushing keys, followed by a week we fill our vault up with +14s and go play other games.

With the current tanking meta, buffing Fortified will just make it even more kite-centric, further destroying tanking in general.

+15’s are the cap for rewards - they SHOULD be difficult to time. That’s not a bad thing.

Blizz ui (armory and in-game) and box rewards only recognize the level of key done, affixes play no part. Thus you can see why the community cares only about the way to most easily push that number higher. And if your number (level of key done) is not higher than someone else that does you lose the right to comment on that other person. Even if your level of key done (tyrannical) would be equivalent to the other (fortified).

I know. It just seems hilarious to me. Can you imagine if raids were this way and limit waited until a “fortified” week to try to “push” world first? seems to me that keys, that people actually do, are significantly easier than raiding and that by mentioning tyrannical at all people are just being disingenuous and straight lying about the actual difficulty of mythic+.
