In the stereotype Rogue PvP build does Hemo fully replace SS?

Name says it all. I would really appreciate any advice.

Yes

Hemo > SS, especially with a slow weapon.

TY all for the info

This is why I like rogues so much I’ve ran with many rogues and they all do different moves it’s quite refreshing (backstab, hemo, eviscerate, blade flurry aa, etc)

In terms of damage per energy, hemo is comparable to a fully kitted SS, though probably slightly inferior in most cases, unless you’re able to get a slow enough weapon to make up for the damage loss (hemo is unnormalized, so it applies your weapon speed to its formula, whereas SS is ‘normalized’ at a 2.4 weapon speed no matter what weapon you use).

So, for a 21 point investment, you’re dealing with an ability that is strictly superior to even a fully spec’d SS, as it generates more CP per energy as well.

The loss in DPS is actually getting to that point.

When your weapon is fast, sinister is not worth the energy. Hemo is 35, and only costed 1 talent point, vs 2 to reduce sinister.

Well, TECHNICALLY it’s 4 points to get hemo because you have to spec serrated blades. While it’s a useful talent, I would say that if you’re not speccing hemo, you’re probably not putting points in serrated blades.

Even then, it’s totally worth it for swords. Hemo spec is hands down the best CP generator build in both PVP and PVE. For the rogue who is undergeared, the point is getting that 5 pt evisc asap.

I’m on the fringe in that I also spec 3 points in setup for those fast cp’s when I pop evasion. I count this as my blade flurry replacement for PVE; pop evasion and get cp’s quickly between hemo and dodging w/ setup, giving me that 5 pt evisc sooner.

I played around with hemo mixed w/ dagger build for those times when you can’t get behind the target but I just didn’t find it to be the best use of talent points.

Oh that is pretty neat idea with setup. Is it worth it in the typical pvp build to drop the imp gouge for those 3 points? For pvp that is. I am going sword btw.

No, absolutely not.

Can you elaborate, several people made a convincing arguments

No offense to that guy, but Setup is generally regarded as a bad talent and imp gouge is generally regarded as literally some of the absolute best points you can spend for PvP as a rogue.

Oh I thought you were saying to to the original topic of “does hemo replace SS”.

I never said I give up gouge. I give up imp sap. YES this goes against the grain, like I said I’m fringe on this, but it works WELL. I don’t get the value out of imp. sap for my use case. I prefer setup as it’s quick cp’s with evasion and a bonus cp here and there when not using evasion.

Your mileage may vary but I’d encourage any naysayers to actually DO THE WORK and try it. It doesn’t matter what’s “generally regarded.” You don’t necessarily play the way someone else does. I don’t play in theorycraft or what makes sense in writing, I use experience and pick what works well. That puts me in the fringe alone since 99% of players are just doing what someone else told them to, talent point spec anyways.
