In terms of fun, mage or warlock? ... or priest?

Hey GD…

In terms of fun, what would you recommend - mage or warlock? I have played both but not to cap and not with Azerite traits, so am curious what y’all find fun.

Casual player, BGs, questing, low level mythics. I know mages are hurting now in the DPS race but am talking more mechanics/fun

EDIT… thoughts on spriest?

Warlock ofc

The correct answer is always Mage

Mage, Arcane for dungeons and Fire outside works for me. Burning stuff is fun… I miss matches, wooden ones, paper ones sigh. Zippo’s are good.

A patch ago, I’d say Warlock with almost no hesitation. However, right now, I’d probably go with Mage.

Honestly, they’re both kind of boring. At least, leveling them is.

Affliction lock if you want to never stop running and just dotting everything in sight while your VW holds them in check. Fire mage, cause there is still nothing like watching a big fiery ball land smack dab in your targets face. or have real fun and play ele shammy. where you run a big circle and gather 15 bazillion mobs, drop your little boulder guy, and kill said 15 bazillion mobs in 3 globals.

Go Mage. In fact Fire and Frost is more Fun.

Yeah, that’s what I discovered already! I’m sure 120 is a different story.

I’ve always disliked Affliction. Hate this iteration of it more than any other.

Destruction is a shell of its former self but the burst phase is enjoyable if it isnt interrupted.

Demonology is a ton of fun, I actually really love it a lot this expac. However, pet AI issues has basically ruined it for me.

Still won’t play a Mage tho

I had a lot of fun leveling my Fire Mage. And less fun leveling my Destruction Warlock.

I think the main reason i didn’t really enjoy leveling my Warlock is probably because they have like no mobility at all lol.

At least Mages have blink.

I’ve enjoyed both though overall I think I have more fun with warlocks. I love demonology

Affliction Lock, keep Big Blue out, dot and grab everything and then dot some more stuff…stop to pick up loot every few minutes.

Warlock will have better variety and will probably scale pretty crazy before a nerfbat hits them in the horns.

Mages are reliable and are usually the least likely to get a sticking nerf in the future. They’re very strong, but arcane is kind-of a mess right now, and all three specs are kinda centered around proc fishing, making them sort-of samey.

Both have high skill ceilings, it’s just a matter of if you prefer kiting and outplay potential, or self sustain and tankiness.

I do alot of non-rated pvp. I gotta say, up until Legion, warlock was the way to go when it comes to pvp. Now however, I have benched my warlock and am playing a frost mage in pvp. This is mainly because the new changes have made warlocks simply not fun in a pvp setting. At least that is my opinion.

Although for PVE content, affliction warlock makes questing very easy. Just dot and go. Mythics and dungeons - warlocks are meh and I prefer playing an arcane mage.

I prefer Warlock of those two, seems to have a lot more variety.

Play a spriest and have the best of both worlds!

Thanks everyone!!

Is priest considered more fun than warlock then?

Tried a warlock a couple weeks ago, played for a while, but ended up going back to mage. Play Arcane in PvP and they will never catch you. xD
