In-Store Mounts Not Counting Towards Mount Collection Achievement

I just wanted to create this post to help anyone that may run into this issue.

I recently bought quite a few of the Blizzard store mounts, but my mount counter did not go up. I was stuck at 180/200 but I knew it should be higher because I just bought all those mounts. I logged in and out of each character like everyone has suggested because Paladins, Warlocks and DK’s have class mounts, but still nothing. It wasn’t until I bought a mount off the AH and learned it that my mount counter shot up to 195. So if you are experiencing this issue, you should try obtaining a non-Blizzard store mount and right-click to learn it so that your mount counter gets back in sync.

I will be submitting a bug report to the developers because I don’t think this should be happening.

TLDR; if you buy in-store mounts and your mount counter doesn’t increase, try learning a normal in-game mount (such as from the AH) to fix the counter.

You should describe it as Store Mounts not causing a counter update, rather than not being counted. They clearly are counted since after you learn a mount that does prompt an update, or you would only have gone up to 181.

When you report bugs you want to do it as accurately and clearly as you can or else the guy fixing it may waste time trying to fix the wrong thing, or even worse, seeing the wrong thing isn’t actually bugged, and dismissing your report.

I completely agree with Aphton and find your reply unnecessary and unhelpful. It is certainly a bug and it was described perfectly.

For those struggling to understand why sometimes the achievement does not increase, after some testing I came up with these findings:

Let’s start with a simple scenario where on your account you have a rogue and a warrior and both have 10 mounts. No unique or exclusive mounts present, both characters can use 10 mounts.

You can check on Statistics > Gear > Mounts owned that both characters have 10 mounts.
You can check on the mounts Achievement that you have 10 mounts.

Now let’s pretend you got a gladiator mount on your rogue, which currently is exclusive to the rogue.
At this precise moment, the rogue mounts owned will go to 11.
The warrior mounts owned stays 10.
A script will run for your Mount achievement progress and check, is the mounts owned of this character (the rogue) greater than the current progress? Yes, because 11 > 10, so update the achievement progress also to 11.

So current status is
Rogue mounts owned: 11
Warrior mounts owned: 10
Achievement progress: 11

Now let’s pretend you got a mount on your warrior, but not an exclusive one.
At this precise moment, the warrior mount goes to 11.
The rogue mounts goes to 12.
A script will run for your Mount achievement progress and check, is the mounts owned of this character (the warrior) greater than the current progress? No, because 11 is not > 11, so DO NOT update the achievement progress.

So current status is
Rogue mounts owned: 12
Warrior mounts owned: 11
Achievement progress: 11

THAT’s why sometimes you will get a mount but not see an increase on the achievement tracker!

Now let’s pretend you got a mount on your rogue, but not an exclusive one.
At this precise moment, the rogue mount goes to 13.
The warrior mounts goes to 12.
A script will run for your Mount achievement progress and check, is the mounts owned of this character (the rogue) greater than the current progress? Yes, because 13 is > 11, so DO update the achievement progress to 13.

THAT’s why you sometimes will get ONE mount but see an increase of 2 on the achievement tracker!

So if you want to “fix” your achievement progress, you just need to get a mount on any character where their mounts owned is bigger than the current achievement progress.

While Blizzard support article (https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/4738) do say that you can log on other characters to trigger an update, I didn’t experience that working reliably.
Only by getting a mount on a given character where their mounts owned was bigger than the achievement progress that I saw the achievement being updated all the time.

Hopefully that helps!

I 100% understand how the mount credit system works, but nobody seems to be able to tell me the answer to the below question.

DO MOUNTS PURCHASED IN THE ONLINE STORE COUNT TOWARD THE ACHIEVEMENTS.

I was at 377 on collector toon, Ret Paladin. He is who my achievement tracks back to. I purchased 2 mounts today, learned them on my Ret Paladin, but am still at 377.

ANYBODY HAVE ANY ANSWERS

man this thread saved me 17days of wait ticket. Than you so much! Had to buy a 5k anima mount to get it, buy worth it

Had my mount count at 99. My Rogue hit 30 tonight so decided to buy a store mount with the sale going on. I was expecting to get my Dragonhawk …but count still at 99. I exited the game switched toons…still at 99? No idea when I’ll unlock a non store mount to get the credit😑

Same happened to me, I logged in ALL my 4 Toons, checked the AChievement tracker, BEFORE buying the store mounts. It showed 292/300 (Lord of the reins). I bought 5 store mounts and it didn’t move, stayed at 292/300. I sent a ticket to Blizzard, first try took 5 days for a response (Automatic response obviously), Second try, took another 5 days, Rep replied with the same BS as the other dudes up there, treating me as if I was dumb or something and didn’t know how the achievement tracker worked, Third try I asked for a refund and gave up because their customer service is disgusting. Fix your stuff Blizzard, don’t pin your garbage game glitches on players.

End all, be all. Yes store mounts count. If they do not trigger your tracker immediately you can first log into all your characters (on everyone server and every account) that will most often trigger the count change. If that does not trigger it, it will be counted the next time you acquire a new mount.

I’m at almost 230 mounts and the achievement tracker says I only have 186… That’s a huge discrepancy. And it’s very frustrating because I tried really hard to get all those. Almost all of them I got on my main, so I don’t see why the difference is so huge. Wow is so glitchy.
