In Shadowmoon Valley

He shaman. The void was our doom.

The void is y’all whole clan’s culture & gig though :eyes:

We banished the void due to it’s dangers. Umbric having plot armor won’t change the fact of the threat.

The Shadowmoon Clan didn’t “Banish” the void at all, what :joy:

You’re getting Blood Elf lore mixed up with Orc lore there buddy.

In the MU it was Gul’dan who summoned the Dark Star not Ner’zhul.

Technically did. The MU Shadowmoon clan were mostly astrologers and such. They were never void crazed minions of the Dark Star like they were in the AU

No, it wasn’t.

In the MU — ‘The Dark Star’ was the Naaru, K’ara — who was known to the orcs as the Dark Star, and they came with the Draenei aboard the Genedar as they approached Draenor until they were ejected from the vessel in the chaos of the Genedar’s crashlanding.

K’ara’s remains appeared in the sky as a shadow beneath the pale moon and was met with both adoration and fear by the orcs. The clan gave it many names, such as “great father” or “dark mother”. The clan mystics referred to it as the “Dark Star” and worshipped it as a deity.

Gul’dan simply wielded enough terrible power to successfully tap into the Dark Star’s power far later on, but he did not ‘summon’ it.

They didn’t banish it, they forbade tapping into the power directly as opposed to simply being empowered naturally by its presence, as one directly accessing such power would have the overwhelming void energies shatter the minds of those who did so.

Thus the Shadowmoon Clan came to decree that the Dark Star’s powers were simply not meant to be wielded by mortals. Anyone who tried was sharply rebuked, and if they continued, they would immediately be exiled far from Shadowmoon Valley.

Alternate Draenor Lore

Alternate Draenor’s lore was actually the one that made the Dark Star more viewed as evil & malevolent, than the MU lore — and that was only because of its powers of necromancy.

  • Which is odd considering BFA tried arguing that necromancy, undead & the forces of death was immune to the void, or a nemesis of such … but then again BFA & SL lore was either nonsense or extremely ignorant so moving on, lol.

Prior to the “Defiling the dead” incident, it was noted that the Shadowmoon Clan soon found that under the presence of this new being ‘The Dark Star’ — Their power had grown in ways they did not fully understand, and they began to hear the “voice of shadow” in addition to the languages of the stars and earth.

Umbric playing a victim when everyone can see that the Void is bad is the most hillarious thing still.

The void isn’t some super-happy-fun-toy, it is dangerous, volatile and unpredictable.

Umbric shouldn’t play the victim, no.
He certainly shouldn’t vilify the Blood Elves for peacefully exiling them either.

Personally I rather enjoy the concept of benevolent void creatures — However Alleria along with Umbric and his ilk would probably just want to use or devour their power for their own gain – so if we do encounter such, I sincerely hope they have little if any connection to them at all … :smirk: Would much prefer it be the Shadowmoon Clan :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

  • If I got to choose a ‘Benevolent’ creature who holds powers of the void within them to return in the MU — I’d choose Anzu  Given we freed his spirit from those who shackled him so long ago, it wouldn’t be far fetched to see him return back to life  Bonus points if he reunites with his also-revived bae: Rhukmar :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

If they’re going to pitch in the concept that there’s some forces of light that are more oppressive & malevolent, then it’s only fair we get some surprising forces of the void that are more freedom-loving and benevolent. :dracthyr_nod:
