In regards to these Classic+ threads

If Blizz were to introduce such a thing, I think it should only be aspects changed that don’t affect other player’s game…such as:

Updated models and textures (one of the only things I’ll miss about retail).

Built in quest help and more informative mini-map (much like retail currently has).

A few other QOL issues that could be turned on or off.

Tbh, a Classic+ option would eventually steer away from being anything Vanilla-like, and could become a completely different game. If that’s what you’re looking for, there’s plenty of other MMO’s to choose from.
Maybe it’s best if we just enjoy Classic for now and see what happens over the next few months before dreaming up something new and different.

Which is fine, as long as its on brand new servers, and doesn’t touch the Classic realms.

In my singular opinion, Classic+ servers will ONLY happen if retail WoW implodes – there will be no dividing resources to develop two half-game expansions. It’s Retail WoW content, OR Classic content.

Now, TBC Classic and WotLK Classic are possible future projects if Classic Classic does well and has the player numbers on its side. The data/code base for this already exists, so all that needs to be done is figure out a way to transfer those who want to leave Classic in a way that does the least damage to all realms.

If they do something “new and different” I’d like to see them release the game like how they wanted to.

There was a lot of really cool sounding systems that they cut before launch. I mean, that in game TCG could have been super awesome on its own.

People need to give it a rest with this fantasy they call Classic + or Classic + Elite or anything similarly named. It’s just not going to happen…

It’s pretty damn funny considering the fact that Classic has not even been released to everyone yet, and especially since Blizzard announced the release of Classic…these same fantasy minded people have been asking for changes to a game where J. Allen Brack said that Blizzard will make Classic as it was and thus creating an authentic experience for the players. You want changes? BfA is --------------> that way.

Everybody’s definition of “Classic+” is different. Mine is “Vanilla but with more Vanilla content”, not “Vanilla with QoL”. So think things like a Vanilla-fied Karazhan, filling in the terrain voids in Eastern Kingdoms + Kalimdor with Vanilla-style zones, more crafting recipes, that sort of stuff.

It doesn’t really matter though, because Blizzard isn’t going to start thinking about these things until Naxx is starting to wear thin. That’s a long way down the road.

They have 6 years to see what happens, given that we’ll be getting TBC and Wrath after Classic (on new servers), so hopefully either Retail completely turns around, or they decide to make WoW 2.0 after Retail implodes. Maybe 10.0 is called “Death of Azeroth” and the world soul gets tainted by Old Gods (Activision).

Serious question: has this been officially confirmed? I think we will be getting these as well, but I haven’t seen any interview yet that stated it in certain terms.

All of those things would fall under “Classic+” so your definition is pretty much the same as everyone else’s, you just have different ideas as to WHAT the “+” part should be, as everyone seems to have. This is why “Classic+” shouldn’t even BE a consideration because then you run into the same problem as people who don’t like Retail are already complaining about.

We already know the contents of TBC and Wrath though, and some people are ok with that content, which is why this is the more likely scenario for them to go.

Let’s get into Classic first, see where the numbers REALLY are, then Blizz can see if something BEYOND Classic, whatever direction, is appropriate.

If that happens I’ll be low-key disappointed. TBC and Wrath had their awesome parts, but they also brought in a bunch of problems. It would be a shame if Blizz didn’t take the opportunity to not replay all their mistakes.

They mentioned in an interview how it would be trivial to deliver TBC and Wrath now that they have the technology they developed for Classic, and really, can you not see Blizzard going for an easy cash grab in 2 years?

Blizzard has not said anything about releasing TBC and Wrath after Classic.

“About these Classic+ threads”

We didn’t need another one.

Old models and textures > new ones all day.

I’d be willing to bet you’re in the extreme minority with that opinion.

I think more people like old graphics than you think. There wouldn’t have been a huge uproar on the forums about graphics if I were in the minority.

Copied from another similar thread:

This is the extent of what I would accept for Classic+.

I think you missed the part where she said “On new servers”

If you don’t want the problems Blizz had with TBC and Wrath, you won’t have to worry. They won’t affect your Classic world.

I didn’t miss “on new servers”. I’d be mildly disappointed because the existence of separate TBC/Wrath servers precludes the possibility of “expansions minus mistakes”, aka “Classic+”. It’s not every day that a game company gets to give their past a re-do and it would be a shame if that opportunity went to waste.

I would play them anyway, but oh what could have been…

I see where you’re going, but if they fix one thing, but think something else is fine, who is right and who is wrong there?

There are so many things in each expansion that one group of people might dislike, but another group will have absolutely no problem with that it would be tough for Blizz to “fix all their mistakes” as they go along.
