I tend to think theyâre mainly marketed to companies to use in promotions, like âBuy a new line on your cell phone, on contract for 2 years and get FREE Apple head phones! $600 value!â
Stuff like that. The world today, with Covid19, Iâm actually shocked they brought them out now instead of waiting. I know my family is about to have a huge life change at the end of the year, my husbands long term job is closing shop in our state which means we cannot spend any extra money and I doubt my story is a rarity right now.

Like Pestilense said, Samsung offers lower priced phone. I recently had my Galaxy S6 get water damage after years of having it(been perfect till I oopsied) and I got gifted a galaxy A21s which is like $200 something? It works awesome cause I donât need a universe level perfection camera, just apps and calls, ect. Also this:

Buying a pair of Apple headphones at 600$ when you could get Bose or even top of the line Astro Headphones with a chunk ofchange to spare is hilarious to me. Apple is and always will be overpriced simply cause of the name. Just cause you pay more does not mean the product is better.

Iâm glad you find value in the $200 phone you got. I looked up the galaxy S6 you said you had previously and that was a $700-$1000 phone according to a CNET article I found from March 2015.
So at some point you were ok with that.
Regarding âslowing down phonesâ⌠Apple did this to extend the life of a phone with chemically degraded batteries. If they didnât clock down, the phones would just shut off.
The penalty they paid was for them not being as transparent about the action as they could have been. I agree that they should have explained this better because people are still confused, and it probably hurt Apple that people think it was some devious plot to push you to upgrade.
I know itâs popular to say âthey did it to make you buy a new phoneâ but logically, this extended the useful life of older phones and let you keep them longer. Notwithstanding Apple provides software support for their devices far longer than their competitors.
Personally I donât care what computer or phone people get because thatâs stupid. I just like to point out the silly cult like behavior of the âAnti-Appleâ crowd. I donât get it. Being Anti-device company isnât a personality.

I donât see people making threads about LG, or Samsung, or Hewlett-Packard on Internet forums and incessantly crapping on them though. The behavior seems exclusive to the Anti Apple crowd.

I said the same thing when I first heard about the iphone. I thought, âWho would pay that much for a phone?â
People are tribalistic these days when faced against the largest âtarget/oppositionâ in their focus.
Case in point, people seem to think the President is at fault for everything in the country because they are a talking head and a lone figure to place blame (plus a bit of serf mentality happening).
Apple is that talking head by being a 2 trillion dollar company.

The trick is only paying for that new phone once every 4-5 years. Worked so far for me.
I dunno. It might just be because my hearing is pretty much shot so Iâm never going to get full usage out of good headphones. On the other hand, while I definitely wouldnât buy sneakers for that price, if you want a reasonable quality suit thatâs not made out of polyester the only way youâre getting it for less is to get it from a thrift store.
