Ok Sylvanas, we see what kinda guys you into now.
That line bothers the crap out of me since that is a direct retcon of Nathanosâ original story where he was well liked and considered a hero.
Itâs amazing the lengths this new writing team will go to undermine the original plot.
Donât worry, theyâll retcon that line and probably the one about him calling the Horde pathetic when weâre fighting him so they can readjust the story again.
A vicious cycle!
Nathanos: sounding absolutely feral Now things get INTERESTING
Me watching the cutscene: âŚuh oh
I mean, having a human in the Farstriders wasnât exactly popular move among the elves. As I recall, the only reason he was allowed to join was because Sylvanas used her status as Ranger-General to overrule everyone else.
Nathanos died the way he livedâŚperpetually trying to cough up a hair ballâŚ
I just imagine his VA has to have some tea or something every recording session
Thatâs nothing new. In the original story, the Horde were bloodthirsty war mongers who had devoured their own world and were therefore driven to expand to Azeroth. They retconned them into nature-loving hippies whose past transgressions were chalked up to demonic machinations. In the original story, the Tauren were a light-hearted nod to the rumors of a secret Diablo cow level. They were retconned into canon lore and promoted to a main class. In the original story, the Pandaren were a one-off gag race of drunken warriors. They were retconned into wise pacifists who were drawn into the the Alliance/Horde conflict for reasons. Nathanosâ treatment is par for the course. Thatâs why Iâve never gotten into the WoW lore. Itâs never felt earned. It always feels twisted to conform to the needs of the current game system.
In the original story the Orcs wiped out the Draenei. They retconned the story so that youâre still here for some reason.
No, everyone except Sylvanas didnât like Nathanos back then because elves are racist.
Although yeah, they shouldâve said Lorâthemar never liked Nathanos because he didnât want humans in the Farstriders, not because Nathanos was a âbully.â
Lorâthemar is such a wimp. Who even uses word bully in adult life.
And forsaken been protecting silvermoon for ages against undead. And alliance. Including Nathanos.
Remember that itâs coming from Lorâthemar himself, not some unbiased narrator. Itâs entirely reasonable that he justified his hatred of Nathanos to himself by going âwell, heâs a bullyâ. Itâd be weird for him to go âin life I hated him because Iâm horribly racistâ.
I get where your coming from, but do remember the Blood Elves are not above being racist and very snooty. They outright hated him and Sylvanas working together, and most rangers resented a human being taught their ways. So honestly Iâd take it with a grain of salt. What a Elf calls a braggart and a bully might well be, âbeing a humanâ to others. Case and point, Tanis Halfelvenâs treatment by the Elves in Dragonlance.
I tend to look at NPC statements and be like. âWell. Thatâs your opinion.â
Seeing how he acts, the description of him seems apt.
being racist is core race feature for elves in any universe. Used to be for wow aswell. And only windrunners were into humans
Sure, but itâs not racism just to be racist. Thereâs always some sort of justification (valid or not) behind it. They look down upon other races because theyâre shorter lived, or have inferior culture, or less magical prowess, or are too reckless, or too shortsighted.
Offtopic but is he a weekly quest or a daily quest?
Also, I low-key wondered why it was his home if it was called âBlightcaller.â I think I need more sleep.
The orcs wiped out the draenei, but they conveniently forgot to check Shattrathâs broom closet, where 12,000 more of them happened to be hiding.
For good reason.
A planet full of Orcs minding their own damn business and a bunch of blue goats crash into it, bringing all of their problems with them.
Everything that has happened to the orcs since is indirectly the fault of the Draenei attracting the Burning Legion to Draenor.
True statement, and I have the restraining orders to prove it.
