In Game Store & Item Exclusivity - Plz Address This issue

I would really love some clarity from the Sales and Marketing Dept on the nature the In Game store and what exactly is blizzards policy regarding exclusive items.

I have played since vanilla and have routinely spent additional cash beyond my monthly sub to acquire special edition mounts, trading card items, special edition pets and armour sets … etc, I have purchased things from the store for the same reason, because i believed the items were exclusive. As a customer those items had value to me for that EXACT reason. Now those same items are being given away at the trading post. Not coloured variants of them, not edited editions, the exact same items. Which is fine I guess… let everyone enjoy them. However as a customer it like the corporate suits are spitting in my face and laughing at me for having spent actual money on them previously. Again thats fine it was my choice. However it leaves me unwilling to do so again in the future. Why should I pay for something if its going to be given away for free in 6 weeks?

Going forward I would like to know, is every exclusive item offered from now on going to eventually end up on the trading post? the dreadlords armor? the gladiators rugged armour? Speaking as a customer Im not sure what Im paying for with these items anymore… is it access to these items a month or two before everyone else? if thats the case at 25 and 40 dollars that’s way too much money considering the exclusivity is gone. I was going to buy diablo for the mount but why should I drop $100 bux if its going to be on the Trading post in six months.

I want to give blizzard my money, I’d just like to know what exactly it is Im buying with it.

TLDR: Im not going to spend up on anymore collectors editions, rare pets, armour sets, mounts etc etc until blizzard make some statement that the items that are for sale are exclusive to my purchase and will not be a part of some 6 month sub sales gimmic a year down the road on on the trading post next month.

It seems like whatever is on the store for the most part will end up on the trading post/twitch drop at some point. That’s up for you to decide if you want to spend money now and get the items, wait and spend tenders on them later.

I like the option of knowing if I can’t/don’t buy something on the estore, I can snag it later with tenders. If I pay money now, doesn’t mean I can’t still use whatever it is when they offer it in a different way.

it kind of sounds like you made a bad assessment of the potential risk involved in your investment

Yes, as well as not spending the tender on it later.

Then don’t buy them.

Then get comfy because it’s a safe bet that everything on their shop, past and future, will be cycled through the trading post.

Yes essentially, there is no guarantee that what you buy won’t be mailed to everyone else a day later. Blizzard still owns WoW and everything in WoW even though you are using it. You are buying access to that item the second you pay for it, what other people get doesn’t change your deal.

It’s like buying a movie on DVD. You don’t own the movie, you own a copy of the movie. The movie producers might put it on YouTube or Netflix the week after. But what you are paying for (and getting) is the ability to enjoy the movie right after you buy it.

That’s an excellent analogy.

exactly and thats all Im asking for is clarification on if and item is exclusive in anyway or if its not. If an item is not going to be on the trading post then I’ll buy it… if it is I’d just like to know that before I spend my money.

I don’t think that clarification is a lot to ask of the marketing and sale dept.

Ok

All of the last few shop items have said in their description that they will be available on the Trading Post at a later date. That’s probably all the clarification you’re going to get.

You can’t on one hand buy items from the store, in a game you pay monthly for, after paying a AAA price-tag for the expansion “box”, and also get upset about the integrity of the game.

Generally speaking concerning corporations:

If the company can make money from this,
the company will make money from this.

Have they ever said store items are exclusive? If not there’s no clarification needed.

You seem to be confused by the word exclusive. Exclusive isn’t a thing if anyone who pays $ can get it. That’s availability. Exclusive is only so many people get this and then that’s it.

They stay exclusive if advertised as exclusive.

Store mounts, pets, etc have never been stated to be exclusive.

Do you also get mad that new players get BFA and every previous expansion for free even though you paid retail price for them?

Gladiator’s Ragged Armor

Clearly stated:

" The Gladiator’s Ragged Armor will arrive in a future rotation of the Trading Post, but no sooner than three months after it leaves the Shop. Certain restrictions apply. Visit shop.battle.net for more information and detailed promotion end dates."

Another good example is PlayStation plus. The amount of times I’ve bought games only for it to go on plus a week later for free :sob: It sucks but it is what it is.

Personally, I like that they’re offering us ways to get it without spending real cash. I’m broke and can barely pay the dang sub :dracthyr_lulmao:
