I’d love to see some in-game feedback surveys that pull player opinions on new content and what players are looking for. A number of other games do this, some that were in the game awards recently. Possibly even with some minor award incentive like wow trading post credits.
They already do this. They send out emails and we even have a discord (both NA and EU versons) where we can chat with the devs provide feedback when they ask us about stuff on the ptr or live.

I wish they’d do a census at the end of every expansion, just to get a feel for what we liked and what we didn’t. Using participation metrics seems to be a pretty flawed way of gauging the success of a feature when we’ll always do things we don’t like if there’s something we want at the end.

Heh… Bliz’s use of customer data or surveying is mind bogglingly terrible.
At the point I first unsubscribed because I was unhappy with the game, I had a /played time in the four digits & I never even got an automatic feedback survey from them about why.
They have access to literally every message, friends list & all the social networking data in the game… and they talk to RWF guilds & streamers, while browsing forums.
Absolutely agree with you OP, but the haphazard & inefficient gathering of customer feedback is a habit that’s been ongoing for the entire existence of the game, so I’d be amazed if anything changed.
