In-game chat desperately needs moderation

You’ll wonder how you played WoW before these…

Why am I so unsurprised that OP dipped out of the topic (blaming his wife, no less) when it clearly wasn’t going his way, and never returned as he said he would?

My experience has been that Classic csn be pretty toxic and rude.
Saying its only retail isn’t fair. Its Classic too. Or its neither. If a person is going to point fingers, point accurately.

The flip side of that is that Blizzard as a privately owned platform can choose to allow whatever speech they want, even if not everyone likes it.

“Welcomed by the community” is pretty much impossible. Far too many people in the WoW communities have vastly different ideas on what’s welcoming. There would never be agreement on what is or what isn’t. And I can’t see having the whole playerbase voting on what’s acceptable or not.

All chat channels, including private messages and guild chat, should be heavily moderated with severe punishment for most infractions.

probably because people started going through their post history and linking posts where they were saying naughty stuff.

Totalitarianism will come disguised as liberalism. Maybe the problem with chat is you - cultivating your indignities and polishing you self-important victim identity. Grow up.

Here’s another one - a self-selected, navel-gazing perpetual victim trying to define the parameters of acceptable discourse.

If you have something productive to add then go ahead, if not then you might want to take a peek at the forum code of conduct if you plan to keep posting.

Yeah, Classic has such a kind and certainly not toxic playerbase.

Oooops… did I do that.

Sounds good… but… is pretty much a 60IQ statement.

You know… during the late 80s and early 90s there was a group people that wanted to ban words in music. They weren’t liberal. Liberals at the time were painting with feces and declaring it Art.

Says the person spewing low brow insults.

You tried to be insulting… I see that you tried… but your insult was so poorly worded that I am ashamed for you.

i don’t even have a navel, so it didn’t really impact me at all.

I don’t really see why looking at this is a bad thing.

its bad enough they monitor the forums. they should stay well out of ingame chat.

Just because you or others think something is “offensive” doesnt actually make it so. Much of what people get banned for or silenced in game and on social media at large is not actually offensive its just banned so terminally offended people dont have to hear dissenting opinions.

At the same time, many people think their offensive things are merely dissenting opinions that everyone should be subject to hearing.

“All because I said you shouldnt have any basic human rights, doesnt mean I am offensive. I just have a different opinion you should engage in discussion with”

should be that simple but its not people have got to used to not hearing things they disagree with and think its a personal attack to burst their little bubble

Epic necro dude, see why you are from Icecrown.

It’s far easier to adjust your expectations than inflict your expectations on the world (of warcraft).
