In-Game Calendar

Does anyone know if the In-Game Calendar will be added into Classic? I didnt see it added during the Demo from the streams I watched. With some changes staying like being able to mail multiple items, and some BNet integration I figured this would be one thing added to Classic. I dont want any real changes, I do expect BNet and client level things being changed. However this one thing might be worth it to have so players can do their raid signups in the game, through the App and can find out what WOW evens are going on in game like the Dark darkmoon faire or fishing tourny. If its not added its not a big deal, as long as there is a way on the website to see what events go on through what days. Plus guilds can do sign ups via Websites or Addons. I just figured this is one thing best left in because it changes core game play in no way.

I forget when the calendar was added, but chances are if it wasn’t in 1.12 or prior, we won’t see it. I could be wrong, but I don’t expect Blizzard will program in later features into Classic.

This is one thing I think can be debated because if I remember correctly the change to the mail system where we can mail up to 7 items at 1 time was added in 2.3 in TBC. This is not being pulled from the current Classic client. Also the current Classic Client also has the Calendar in already. So my question would be if the in game calendar changes nothing to classic and we already will have Bnet integration because we have to. Why not just leave this enabled because well it was just an Addon in classic already. My guild used the PHP Website calendar for signups and imported into an Addon. Add Blizzcon we were told some things that were just addons in classic will just be left. That also makes me think the current raid frames might stay because well SRaidFrames was addon in classic.

I just guess with some of the things like the mail being kept changed that we would just keep the in game calendar because its not the same as having LFD which I would never play if that was added.

I personally don’t care one way or the other. If it’s not included in the client, an addon will be made for it.

I am just trying to find out so I can figure out what are our options for the guild I am leading. If the in game calendar is in I am going to ignore needing that addon or a website calendar. I just figured keep it if there is already going to be an addon for it.

If memory serves, it wasn’t there in the demo.

Thanks Man for letting me know. I will have to look into other ways of doing sign ups then. At least Blizzard can consider if it should be added because there will be an addon for it anyway.

I don’t know when they added in-game calendar but I seem to recall using it to help schedule raids and for everything in WOTLK? Having the built in version would be a great benefit for helping guilds organize and reduce the “out of game” workload on guild and raid leaders. I’d be all for leaving this in!

Seeing as they’re starting with the 7.something base code framework and frankenpatching the vanilla code/content into that format, it SHOULD have the calendar already baked in and they’d just have to leave it. I hope they do!!!

Just checked the latest build’s interface files. The Blizzard Calendar UI has been completely cut from the code.

Dam it would have been nice for them to keep the Calendar UI in for classic since it will be a very big help for guild leaders plus it changes nothing in terms of in game mechanics.

I do not think we will see this. The calendar was not added to 3.0.2.

Guilds will use Discord etc. The Guild Website can have the calendar.

My guild will be using Discord. However I dont see a calendar addon for Discord. Do you know of one? As for Websites Semi-Casual guilds is going to be impossible to get people to use guild websites when they are all but useless today when you can google s*** faster then finding it on a guild website. The ONLY tool useful on a website is a calendar. Since there was a addon for the in game calendar before WOW put their own in I figured they can easily keep their current one in game.

Not sure. Back in the day there were websites with pre-rolled WoW themes, where you got a Forum, Calendar, and a Front Page with kill records and the like. I’d imagine those sites are still out there with Discord tie ins now.

I managed many of the websites back in the day and I manage enough systems here at work that I dont care to manage something no one is going to use. Thats why I want something easy like an in game add on, the in game calendar or something in discord. I have screwed around with Guilded but again that is all but pointless because we only need the calendar today.

How do you post boss strategy fights or other serious topics in Discord? Not online and you don’t get to contribute? Do you have a DKP system? How do you post your boss kills for the world to see?

Even many guilds today still have a website. Retail killed a number of those things, with features like Personal Loot but this is Classic.

There is no need to post Boss Strategies. Why would we when you can go to youtube and look up 100 videos of the same thing. Most of the people today do this on their own already that I play with. From WOTLK on in WOW, SWTOR, and FFXIV the people I played with would go learn the boss fight with the videos I would give a quick here is what they are going to do and they will know then we move on. Hell even if there is a certain video throw it in the Discord Channel for that set of information. No need for forums anymore and if people think classic will change that behavior it will not.

If we use any thing is EPGP with some loot council again in game addon no need for a website for that. Just keep the data uploaded to discord.

Another thing. Who cares about showing off Boss kills unless you are a top end guild pushing progression. People who will raid a few days a week, kill bosses and get loot dont care and dont need to show off. Just look at our gear in game when that happens. No need to brag. Hell the 2 40 man raiding guilds I was a officer in back in vanilla We only posted 2 or 3 pictures of our boss kills.

People that are running raiding guilds for classic want to streamline running a raiding guild and dont want to make sh** chaotic again just because someone said it should be like that. I remember enough raid nights after a patch on Tuesday we would sit around an hour or more after raid started trying to get management addons like DKP, and our sign ups working just so we can manage the raid. Screw that, I am 38 now. I want to be able to click a button and invite people to the raid. No I dont want to click a LFD/R button. I want to say ok these 40 people are going, click lets go we have X amount of time lets get things done.

Outside of the ability to schedule guild events / raids which would be super handy was there really that much on the Calendar initially. I know there’s been a big push to flesh it out in the last couple years. Weekly events, micro-holidays etc.

Don’t recall when it was added, wouldn’t miss it too much anyway.

I think the ability to schedule guild events is huge especially with 40 man raids. You can click a button and invite everyone. I also think its good in the fact it tell people when certain events are going on in the world are instead of having to go to the main website to check that out.

I will just need to look for a addon someone makes.

And hope that Blizzard doesn’t kill inter addon communication in an effort to stop LFG tools.
