About an hour ago, a player asked in ZM General Chat why his avatar (upper left corner of the screen) disappeared. I felt bad for the guy but none of us in chat could help him fix it. I suggested resetting UI. He said that didn’t work. Just now, while in the Gardens area, my avatar disappeared from the screen too. This makes the game unplayable because you can’t see your health bar. I was about to say something in ZM General but that ability is gone now too. I had to /Y to say anything. Something is very wrong.
Anyone else?
The portrait? Or the whole Unit Frame?
Sounds like the next villain is already working reality changes in WoW
Maybe try this:
/run PlayerFrame:SetAlpha(1)
I doubt it’s the alpha of the frame, but it’s a start to figuring it out.
The portrait, yeah. I exited the game completely, logged back in and it was there. That lasted a few minutes but it’s gone again.
/run PlayerFramePortrait:SetAlpha(1)
That didn’t do anything, unfortunately.
Did you install any new addons?
Maybe: /run PlayerFramePortrait:Show()
This happened to me also in ZM. It was odd but for me doing a /reload got mine back.
No new addons.
The fact that it happened to another player too right after a patch tells me it’s something they did in the patch that’s causing this.

More than likely so. It’s just coding that they will have to fix by the sound of it.
try this
/run PlayerFrame:ClearAllPoints(); PlayerFrame:SetPoint("CENTER")
The only other possible solution on our end (user) is the /fstack and hovering your mouse where your unit frame should be, and seeing if you get any recognition of the user interface displaying your unit frame is still there in the lower right tooltip box (with something along the lines of PlayerFrame: PlayerFrameTextureFrame, PlayerFramePortrait, PlayerFrameHealthBar, etc…)
/fstack again to return to normal; it can be disorienting
He isn’t back. Maybe that worked!

Blizzard CS tweeted about clearing your wow cache today. It’s causing various issues.

Ha! Usually a good sign. After disappearing for the second time, it just reappeared after 5 minutes and is stable for the last 45 minutes.

There are keybings that toggle parts of the ui. He probably hit one of those by accident
Happened to me too in ZM. I don’t have any mods that touch my UI locations or placement.
I just did /reload and that fixed it. Will have to keep an eye out and see if it happens again.

Like the keybind (shift =) muting the game sound; happens accidentally a bit with the MMO mice XD
