Ashran needs to not be in the epic battleground.

yup, Alliance gets offense way too often in WG to be a coincidence and the free 15% buff sitting in the Hordes backyard in Ashran absurd.

Not accurate. I’ve won plenty of Offense games. (Yes, I admit it’s harder, but it can be done with a good strategy.)

mix all ingredients together
preheat oven to 350

From what I’ve seen:

  • Horde pugs win offense about 50-60% of the time
  • Alliance pugs win offense about 10% of the time, basically an auto-loss if you load in as Alliance and get offense

In general though, the bg heavily favors defense (regardless of faction). Just an inherent imbalance/flaw with the current version of this map.

Horde pugs are generally better at large-scale teamfights, so that’s why they can sometimes win on offense despite defense’s various advantages.

Horde pugs actually push in and get on the SR flag, unlike Alliance pugs that have this tendency to fight like 500 feet away from the flag… you’re never going to capture a flag fighting like that :man_facepalming:

Wow another hyperbolic thread about how Alliance “can’t win” in a map that clearly favors them.

Isn’t it ironic that the title of this thread didn’t attract attention from people that should care? Yes its light humour and enjoyable but I thought it would draw in some people serious about finding/sharing strats. The true fix…factionless bgs! I play one where the “other” team appears with red nameplates, “our” team is always green…I sometimes jokingly say “damn I’m green again, reds always win” but you never have people scream about how everyone (but them) on their faction sucks.

I have a difference of opinion on the best strategy when you get either of those BGs.

/afk

TBF I have seen them fail at that enough of the time. :grimacing: But yeah, so many people don’t understand the importance of getting on that flag. Also, I think a lot more alliance than horde don’t know the basics of using WG vehicles… I have seen losses due to that too. :expressionless:

[edit]
For people who may still be confused about why you should get on the flag:
It’s because as you rank up and are able to make vehicles, the team that owns the flag is able to build cata and use them to easily wipe out any remaining enemies. Note that if you start on Defense, the SR WS is already yours by default, so assuming you rank up and keep the flag you can build right away.

An issue with WG offense IMO is two main things.

First being if you do the SR or bust strat, you have people who jump off the cliff and are just dead putting you at a loss.

Second, I feel like vehicles do SOOOO much player damage they need to be squishy. I would like them to do maybe half player damage they have now but be more durable.

I think it could help offense if killing guards have everyone who hit them credit as well, but that could incentivize just avoiding PvP for 5 minutes

Which one is that?

I’ve seen Horde win on offense in less that 6 minutes. They murder Alliance at SR, build demos and haul ballz to East gate, bada bing bada boom, win. It’s pretty sweet.

I’ve seen alliance do that too. Wintergrasp is factionally balanced. Offense/defense is NOT balanced.

I was in a WG offense with you once but had to afk before the game started just as soon as you were explaining the strat because my son needed something.

Eh, he’s a troll. He sits on the forums all day and says that same thing. It’s hard to tell if he really believes it or not.

Lol, I saw Smits last night in an Isle of Conquest, I was on Alliance team

spoiler: his team won

…but he comes on here and claims he’s struggling and “can’t ever win any epic bgs” :man_shrugging:

What, horde won an IOC ?

I think I have lost my last 10 IOC’s in a row .

The problem is the amount of damage being thrown around now. The vehicles simply can’t survive the concentrated fire from players they receive from defense at or in the keep.

Blizzard should have known this would happen and should adjust the HP on vehicles accordingly.

I read at the beginning of BFA or in Beta that the game code had been changed and it was easier to make Hot Fixes for things like this. Some Dev should step up and fix it.

Usually I win at Epics by not Queing for them.
