I know people say “any 40 people who show up” for a raid comp, but I’m wondering something, for MC and BWL IF it was a perfect world and you could count on the same exact 40 people showing up to raid, what would your class roster look like?
Even if you think it’s something silly like 25 mages, or 8 priests and 32 warriors. Anything you think would be “perfect” for handling the content.
Now that I type that, 20 mages in MC does seem hilarious.
If you have 20 mages in mc all using frostbolt, stuff is gonna die pretty quick due to everything in there being weak to frost. Don’t forget to bring some shammies, frost shock hits like a truck.

We used to start with 5 of each class, but that’s not so much necessary as “variety” is.
For MC:
5 Warriors, 2-3 of which can OT but Main Fury.
5-7 Rogues with the 2 variable spots taken up by Hunters.
3 Hunters (for Tranq shot)
5 Paladins for buffs and Sanc, all Holy.
5-7 Priests (with the 2 variable spots taken by Druids) (1 Disc Priest, 1 Shadow Priest, the rest Holy)
3 Druids (for Innervate and tank healing)
5-9 Mages (with the 4 variable spots taken by Warlocks)
1 Warlock (because who doesn’t need a summon and Tank Healthstones)

At least with that many warlocks, Garr would be a lot easier, banish all the adds and have at it, lol.
Also, I did forget about Shamans and frost shock in MC too!
2 or 3 warrior tanks, 5 mages, 5 rogues, 5 hunters, 5 warlocks, 2 shamans, 1 shadow priest, 1 boomkin, maybe some warrior dps. heals pretty much whoever is geared and logged on
Only two shamans?
That poor, poor raid…
I’d always fit at least one shaman per group (8 total) if possible. You want those totem buffs being utilized, since they’re party-wide and not raid-wide like the pally buffs were.
One enhancement shaman in the melee DPS group totem twisting windfury/grace of air/strength of earth and whacking enemies with nightfall, and then one restoration shaman for each other group to provide heals and totem buffs as needed. Maybe one or two of those can be elemental for some extra damage while still providing totems, but elemental - despite having pretty good DPS, has very low efficiency.
Having a resto shaman in the caster and healer groups gives them an extra free group-wide mana potion every 5 minutes with mana tide, and a constant trickle of mana from mana spring otherwise.

G1: Prot Warrior, prot warrior, fury warrior (w/NF and 3rd tank option), SM lock, holy pally.
G2: Fury warrior, combat rogue x2, MM hunter, holy pally.
G3: Fury warrior, combat rogue x2, MM hunter, holy pally.
G4: Fury warrior, combat rogue x2, MM hunter, holy pally.
G5: Fury warrior x2, WC mage, resto druid x2
G6: Holy priest x4, resto druid x1
G7: Mage x5
G8: DS lock x4, spriest
So pallies are just stupidly stronger than shamans in pve content. So we are gonna make it alliance…
Druid: 2 Resto
Hunter: 3 for tranq shot
Mage: 8
Paladin: 4 holy(blessings)
Priest: 1 shadow(weaving) 3 holy
Rogue: 8
Warlock: 3(curses)
Warrior: 2 prot, 6
Hope your 14 melee classes enjoy spreading weapons that thin.
meh, this is “perfect world” situations. So don’t worry about “that’ll take forever to gear up!” Just whatever you think would be super sweet to see as your raid comp
I’ll take 8 shamans, 31 warriors, and a single rogue then.

TBH you’d probably be better off with 8 shamans, 2 warriors, and 30 mages =P
Pallies, pff.
Can your pallies frostshock? Didnt think so.
Can your pallies windfury totem? No?
Can your pallies self rez? In their dreams, maybe.
Pallies are so overrated.

Mc mobs are not “weak” to frost… you just go in as frost spec because you can’t be fire…
28 warriors 2 hunters 2 warlocks 8 priests.
I’ll take a stab at this:
Ranged:18*
4 Warlocks (3 for the major curses ele/shadow/recklessness, one for backup… 3 will be DS/Ruin with the 3 ranks of imp hs 0/1/2 and the 4th will be SM/Ruin with an imp for the tank group)
1 Shadow priest to buff the warlocks
3 Hunters. You only need 2 for enrage dispells. The third is a backup/gear soak
8 Mages
2 Elemental* (these are flex healers)
Melee: 11
Warrior: 5 (As this is horde, 2-3 are going to be 2h fury)
Rogue: 6 ( 2-3 will be dagger based for gearing efficiency)
Hybrid: lolno
Heals: 7-9*
4 priests
1 Shaman* (with 2 “elementals” flexing as needed)
2 Druids
Tanks:4
4 Warrior
Total ranged 18*
Melee 11
Heals 7*
Tank 4
I think I might have actually gone healer heavy. Couldn’t actually remember the proper amount for a 40 man, likewise I might have gone heavy on the tank/offtank roll… And if I where to trim down, it’d be for another rogue or warlock (or maybe a hunter as a distant option), or potentially flexxing a druid healer out for another elemental shaman… None of that is a ringing endorsement of ele PvE mind you, just that as content gets put on farm status, the group can improve efficiency by pushing more damage out, and they are the ones most readily able to do so.

as opposed to the 12 casters… I actually did balance the dps
