Improving your character through PvP

Why is it that you cannot properly optimize your character through PvP for PvP? Put another way; since when did gearing for pvp through pvp become such a problem that it had to be changed?

I know most people want vendors back, just wondering why it’s such a problem on blizzard’s end, to the point of removing them in the first place.

The official reason was that vendors were too complicated for the casual player. Basically, they were either buying the wrong trinket and or ring and blaming blizzard for it. OR they couldn’t find the vendor at all and even in worst cases, they would actually get LOST on the way to the vendor. So, alas, blizzard said **** it and poof. Vendors gone. kekw

The long version?

Blizzard has a ‘play time’ requirement they want you to hit. They figure that the more time you spend in game, the longer you’re logged in and paying monthly subs.

So they remove any guaranteed currency purchases and make everything random, maximizing the amount of time you would need to spend acquiring gear. They push this as much as they possibly can.

They don’t seem to realize (or they do and don’t care - more likely) that if they just gave the pvp population a balanced game ( can’t because they don’t want to allocate the manpower / resources) and vendors it’s more likely that pvp players will stay subbed and paying them.

The current system alienates most of the pvp population and the only reason people stay subbed is because there really aren’t any other good alternatives to the game.

Ultimately, the pvp population is small enough that they don’t feel the need to care about the effect on it besides doing the absolute bare minimum. The occasional pve hero that jumps in and does random bg or maybe an arena here or there will be in the minority and not know/care enough about the health of the pvp side of things.

As long as people stay subbed and paying money, that’s all that matters.
