Hey all, since the last thread that attempted this was massively derailed, and honestly doomed to fail from the start, I hope to maybe hit the restart button on this for we can actually share what we’d like to see. I don’t want to worry about what the Horde did or didn’t do, but rather what can the Alliance do to internally improve/advance our own narrative? Personally:
An update in northern Kalimdor is in order for the Night Elves. Scrapping Teldrassil as the capital and moving the Night Elves to Mt. Hyjal, where they probably should have been to begin with.
Resolving the Night Warrior and their vengeance in a way that concludes one chapter and starts a new one for the Night Elves.
Sort out and develop contradictions in the Dreanei’s lore. Is the Exodar fixed? Did they fix it and scrap it for Vindicar? Can we get Tempest Keep?
Internal Dwarven development. It seems like the clans are getting back together but what are lingering issues?
Arathor? Gilneas? Defias still a thing? Whats going on with High Elves? Where do they exactly stand.
Noble, “pure,” and restrained Bronzebeards, Humans, Gnomes, contrasting with “tainted,” fanatic, and questionable Dark Irons, Void Elves, Lightforged? Others? Deviations within each “camp?”
Just a few ideas. Just want to restart what I thought was a good concept at its core.
while a revamp would be nice it most likely will not happen so any future content won’t have any territorial change. If blizzard have learnt their lesson from bfa they should avoid significant conquest or loss of territory for either faction in the future at least for now.
The NEs pick up and heal Hyjal, Felwood, Winterspring, Darkshore, and Ashenvale. Making them the NE heavy themed zones they were always supposed to be. The Forsaken are allowed to settle in more thoroughly throughout Tirisfal, the Plaguelands, and the still unrevealed “Northern Lordaeron” zone … giving them access to a major port that they’ll likely need to really make the best of the now Lich-King-less Scourge.
I think blizzard should back off on the faction war as a whole for now. With mostly pro peace horde and alliance leadership I think the factions storylines should focus on internal issues for now
What internal issues do the Alliance have outside of recovery? I don’t trust Blizzard enough to make an engaging story in the Alliance as none of them really care to have greviances among one another.
Well, as strange as it is, they could make the sparing of the Horde a central point of contention. Have a bit of a spectrum in between Anduin and Tyrande, with various groups and leaders taking various positions. Anduin’s choice to spare the Red Faction may pay off in the long run, but it should be an immensely controversial choice for the Blue Team. But, you are right, one of the bigger issues with the Alliance is a serious lack of moral ambiguity and a little bit too much cohesiveness for their own good.
Not really what I was thinking. Kinda hard to describe… I think I need to offer a short situation.
Imagine if another gnome colony in a new land offered property to the night elves while the leper gnomes of the same colony offered property to the forsaken but conveniently something bad happens to the gnome colony after establishing the new capitals.
I feel the best way for that would be for Tyrande to be the NPC that gets the Sylvanas kill. It would allow for the Night Elf to have vengeance/justice for Teldrassil by personally killing the one who ordered it’s destruction and subsequently allow them to move forward.
Exodar was fixed as of Prophet’s Lesson (Velen’s short story) but its seemed that the Battle for the Exodar damaged the vessel and Velen decided to focus on the Vindicaar.
Tempest Keep status is presumably in the hands of the neutral Sha’tar and their leader A’dal.
Case in point how the council work when Dagran comes of age? He’s of Dark Iron and Bronzebeard descent but he has no connection or right to rule over the Wildhammer.
Seemed or did? Not saying you’re wrong, I just havent seen that stated anywhere. I know they used the Exodar to make the Vindicar, but what does that leave of a capital city? One thats been fixed, floating, and now back in the ground? Might raise more questions than answers, which could be a good thing if they’re willing to address them, or actually revamp the BC cities. Crap shoot I know, but gotta have a little hope.
The problem is that they are not planning to kill either Sylvanas or Nathanos off. 8.1 and the loyalist option should’ve made it pretty clear. Let alone the fact that they are not going to kill their favorites off just so their most hated race can get some justice.
They couldn’t even be bothered giving us those zones back so they are definitely not going to update them.
Maybe I’m being overly optimistic, but with the Bronze Dragongs they’ve been putting in to switch between different instances of zones and the new way they’re going to be doing the leveling experience, I don’t think its completely out of the realm of possibility to do a revamp of the old world, adding in the BC zones.
The problem is rescources they may do one are two every now and then like darkshore and arathi but I don’t think they’re going to do a full revamp with new leveling quests
Kill off Anduin and hire new writers with an actual interest in the Alliance as a faction beyond writing Humans and their vassal states as the ultimate lawful stupid. Remove humans from power entirely.
When it comes to resources, building zones from the ground up are a hell of a lot more difficult than editing old ones. The overall environment is there, details, base story/background, pathing, and existing assets to pull from. Its a matter of updating. Even if its just a matter of say ground textures, Tanaris and Uldum can use the same as Vol’dun, Winterspring - Frostfire Ridge, Swamp of Sorrows - Nazmir.
The most difficult part I’d say is just creating the new quests and narrative, not so much the physical zone updates. Whats the cohesive story they want to tell? The Cata revamp was largely a build up to the 80-85 zones. They would have to ask themselves if they want these zones to have longevity, or be expansion specific if they’d go this route
lol I agree. Humans would be more interesting if they were portrayed like their LoTR or Warhammer counterparts. Not the strongest or the smartest, but they’re definitely tenacious and numerous.
I don’t think they’re shouldn’t by any humans with power in the alliance but they shouldn’t monopolise it either. They should make the alliance a bit more like the horde is now where the orcs still have influence but aren’t as dominant as they were in mop.
Update both continents, With the Night elven capital in Hyjal, the Forsaken capital in Strathholme. Show that the Kaldorei and Forsaken have reclaimed all of their former holdings, and resolve the Night Warrior story line in a satisfying way. Delete Calia and Derek from the Forsaken. Elevate a new Forsaken leader and create a bunch of new characters.
Get rid of High King. Make sure the in-game story line about it describes it as a bad thing that goes against the fundamentals of the alliance; and Varian had good intentions with it, but was wrong.
The Worgen reclaim Gilneas. Due to their proximity with the Forsaken, they rebuild another wall with a big emphasis on safeguarding their home. Also Lo’gosh takes back everyone on the heritage questline, everyone become a Worgen. All the cool kids are doing it. He doesn’t talk about that Varian incident anymore, it was just a phase.
The Dwarves get rid of the Council of the Hammer. Moira is in charge, and is back to her “morally grey” personality.
Thrall cracks down on orcs, and works to get rid of the hero-worship of highly toxic former leaders. The Warsong are eying Ashenvale again? He kills their leader to set an example.
More later when I’m sober.
Making humans actual underdogs would be an interesting change of pace. Won’t lie, I’d enjoy the forums salt from the fanboys who can’t comprehend humanity not being the de facto leaders for a change.
That is a great idea. Why isn’t this a customization option already?
