Improving Solo Shuffle queue times requires big change

Realistically, there will never be more healers queuing than dps, healing has always been a less popular role than dps and shuffle makes that even more pronounced by requiring 2 healers for every 4 dps.

Fixing the healer mmr issue and/or adding better rewards to shuffle won’t solve this issue, it might get some healers to queue more but realistically it will not get nearly enough healers queuing to lower queue times from 20-40 mins to 1-5. Plus healers complain about shuffle all the time, seems like most just don’t like the mode. Even making the game ‘fun’ for healers likely won’t fully improve this as the mode just requires more healers to be queuing than dps or at least the same amount queuing and that will not happen. Also I’m not sure how many healers we lost to blitz, but that definitely happened as well.

So with that said, I’ve seen this idea around and I think it could work.They should make Solo Shuffle a 3v3 mode for DPS only, no tanks no healers. Increase stamina and add some healing orbs around the arena so games don’t end in 30 seconds, etc. This would make Shuffle instant pretty much permanently, no more 20 min queues. It also feels more in line with what shuffle feels like, which is a brawl. Then, they should add actual flex queue to the 3s bracket, so you can queue up with 1-2 other people straight into the 3s bracket. This would also allow them to add some more unique rewards to 3s imo since anyone can queue for it which could get more people into it.

As much as I don’t want to screw healers, the reality is queue times are atrocious and nothing will actually get them down to an acceptable time. Even in DF s1 with insane participation, queue times were still long. Seeing new players come to the game and try pvp only to sit a 20 minute queue every time is pretty sad and I think they should probably prioritize fixing that asap.

Faster queues for a bad game mode sounds unfun to me.

Not sure its bad, would need to try it out. Think it could be very fun though, obviously would be very different from 3s but its possible dps players would have more fun with that then what we have now. At the very least I’d like them to experiment with it and give it a shot. Could try it as an event or something so it can be tested without removing healers from shuffle right away.

if you thought SS was bad this would be 100 times worse imagine you’re a druid,warrior ect ect in a lobby full of mages and rogues pally they all have immunitys you just instantly go 0-6 and rounds would be maybe 10-15 seconds long of using all burst cds and praying

Well no, ideally they wouldnt be 10-15 seconds long that is why I said they can add healing orbs around the arena (like a few for each team) and increase stamina baseline for this mode so kills dont happen instantly. In terms of immunities there is potential for that to be too good, they can probably think of something to get around that, possibly add an item that non immunity classes can grab every 3 minutes or so that lets them take 99% reduced dmg for x seconds.

It would take a little work to make this happen to be clear we are not just removing healers from shuffle and calling it a day.

That would devalue the bracket and it wouldn’t be viable to be ranked anymore. Not enough healers is a community problem Blizzard can’t really fix and we as players have to begin healing more.

That won’t happen and it really isn’t a community problem, at the very least this isn’t solely a WoW thing. When given the choice people just tend to prefer doing damage over support/healing roles, it happened in marvel rivals (and was one of the biggest complaints since there is no role requirements meaning you can have a full team of dps players etc), happens in FFXIV, its just what people gravitate towards. Its just far more noticeable for us now because of shuffle.

This doesn’t really make sense imo and that also wouldn’t really fix the queue time issue? Like at that point might as well change shuffle to be dps only so queues are fast and add flex queue to 3s (can queue from 1-3 people).

4v4 as in 1 healer 3 dps on a team? So that would now require 2 healers for every 6 dps in queue. It might get dps into games faster yeah, that could potentially be something but I’m not sure how well it would work, would healers just end up hating it more? Feels like it would turn it into even more of a brawlfest and healers might queue even less. Also could just potentially have too much going on like that, but I’d be down to try it, though I think I’d prefer 3v3 dps vs dps instead but again would be down to try both.

Ya this one, they might be able to remove dampening with this format

shuffle is only bad because its not flex que, the format is bad, but its still the most played because its solo q, they need to just rework the solo que format, imo

That’s wrong because I play that game and that’s happened only once. Everyone has the ability to flex support, or tank.

Its just as abad idea as introducing solo shuffle. Even worse.
They cant ban tanks from arena, why should we ban healers?
Anyway you already have that a dps only bracket its called skirmish 2s. Go and play there.

Be Outlaw and just zip around collecting healing orbs before everyone else can.

So many ways to work around stuff like that come on, gotta think. They could make healing orbs have a CD so when you collect one you can’t collect another for x seconds. Or they could make healing orbs for each team, so each team has access to 3 set orbs and the other team has access to a different set of 3 orbs so there is no ability to take them from the other team. There’s plenty they could do here.

First, healers aren’t getting banned from arena, you didn’t read. Solo shuffle would change to a dps only mode, and 3s would then become flex queue (where healers and tanks can queue). Shuffle wouldn’t ban healers and tanks, it wouldn’t be a mode for them at all. It’s not really made for them that’s obvious, healers hate it and dps enjoy it because it’s designed as a ‘brawl’ mode.

Mentioning skirmish 2s in this conversation just shows you have no idea what this is about. Queue times for shuffle will not improve, so are we just letting it die along with 3s? Or do we actually try and save both brackets? Yapping about an unrated arena bracket adds nothing to this conversation.

Making shuffle dps only 3v3 would make queues instant, and adding flex queue to 3s would also make queues much faster while inflating that bracket a bit more. More people would play 3s if flex/solo queue existed for it as well. Lets healers solo queue/flex queue for the bracket designed around both healers and dps. This could also let them add some unique rewards to 3s that you wouldn’t be able to get in dps only shuffle.

The only other way I could see shuffle improving in its current form is by making every healer balanced and then removing the spec queue thing where the system tries not to pair you with the same spec as yourself, that would speed up queue times but has downsides too that I’m sure people would be here crying about. And all healers being well balanced seems unlikely with how uncommon that has been. But if both of these things happened queue times would maybe be low enough.

And what is your suggestion to actually improve shuffle queue times and 3s participation?

Remove shuffle, there’s Blitz anyway.

Really can’t, because it’s a community issue surrounding not wanting the responsibility of healing.

It’s a problem in EVERY online game.
