Improving DPS / Understanding Stat Weights

Hello!

So I’m fairly new to WoW in a more dedicated aspect if that makes sense. I used to play here and there never leveling any character very high but fun nonetheless. Now having a decent PC to run it on I picked up BfA when it was on sale. I’m really trying to dig in and figure out the mechanics/rotations to maximize and have found a lot of good material.

I see a lot of people talking about simming but I’m usually just quick simming on raidbots. Right now it says I’m at about 19,000 for DPS and I can see when I’m doing my rotation and opener well and keeping my wits about me I can hit a little under 19k dps on my upswings and then seem to drop back down to a few thousand lower dps. I get that it fluctuates with sin rouges w/ cooldowns and all that and usually hit my highest dps during boss fights.

I’m not sure how to read stat weights correctly? It’s the part that confuses me and I don’t know if I’m just dumb or I’m not reading it right, but if anyone could give me any tips on that part of it or just rouge tips in general it’d be super helpful.

I just want to play my best, I’m having a lot of fun playing WoW right now.

Current stat weights:
Weapon DPS: 9.88, Haste: 2.66, Critical Strike: 2.41, Mastery: 2.25, Versatility: 2.18, Agility: 1.93, Off Hand Weapon DPS: 1.00 * 1 point of Weapon DPS will increase your DPS by 9.88

Quick Sim: raidbots (DOT COM) /simbot/report/bznNUL4NUrCa4QmRHUn5gY

Thank you!

When it comes to weights, essentially it’s just the bigger number is better. I’m sure there’s some relevance to what the actual numbers mean, but I just use it as a reference to how effective that stat is for you to pick up.

Basically what Swineflew said: the higher the number, the more valuable that stat is for you. Do keep in mind that every time you change a piece of gear it can cause your stat weights to change.

thank you!!

Ill give you a quick tip, use pawn(addon) and copy the string of the stats weights from raidbots and paste on pawn manual settings tab.

When reforging was a thing, stat weights seemed to make more sense. But as previously mentioned, get the gear with higher numbers.

If you PvE a lot, you can see which places drop gear that fit your stat needs and farm them.

I’ll definitely do that! Thanks!

Its better just to sim every time you get a peice of gear. Pawn can get very inacurate.
