So … like … this is awful, right? There’s no indicator in-game for when it happens in advanced, the event often gets skipped, and its over in less than 5 minutes so you have to be there or miss it. Can we please get a change so it happens more predictably with in-game indicators and fewer accidental skips?
The expansion is almost over, I believe it happens every 2 hours on the odd but I could be wrong. WoWhead is typically accurate.
They do announce it but its quite easy to miss.
I needed a weak aura to track event times. I’d never have completed things otherwise.
There are, but it seems you don’t know what they are.
There is a horn on the map that gives a count down.
Everytime this weekly comes up, the exact same complaints crop up on GD. Why? Because this stupidity has plagued this event since expac launch.
For some insane reason, you cannot get accurate in-game information on the status of this event if you are not in the Waking shores. Other events can give you this data cross-zone. But this event can’t. To make matters worse, this event has 2 timers. 1 totally useless one that misleads you. And 1 accurate one. Then on top of that, the event takes all of 5min to complete but the 1 hour timer will show its still active if you’re outside of the zone so you’ll fly all the way there only to find that poof. Event gone. So for 55 min, this timer will lie to you.
There are other issues with the event but that’s a quick run down.
The siege never gets ‘skipped’, it’s just over very quickly now that it’s part of the weekly quest and everyone cares about doing it. It just means that there’s nothing there for 115 out of the 120-minute cooldown on the event.
To be fair for dragonsbane keep, it was wrong so many times in the past. It would be up on the map and I would fly out run it only to find out it was long over when I fly over the area.
If it says “the siege is active”, then it’s probably over. If it says “the siege will begin in:” then you have time.
Blizzard should add a submenu that shows timers for in game events and separate it by expansion. We shouldn’t have to go to an external website for this information.
It’s every 2 hours and starts about 2 minutes after. It never changes except when the clocks change. It doesnt get more predictable. And its even announced in Valdrakken about 10 minutes prior by NPCs.
Now the Hunt on the other hand… That is random. Random time frame and random location.
The location is semi-random, but there’s always a hunt happening somewhere.
It does technically get announced though. There’s a horn on the map that tells you its current status and there’s a herald that appears in Valdrakken when it’s about to get underway. It does need to be adjusted though because it’s currently being cleared away too quickly for how long it takes between sessions.
The Hunt is actually predictable once you know what zone it’s in. It rotates zones every two hours or so, but for those two hours it simply moves between 2-3 locations within that zone as it gets completed. It’s also currently tuned in a way that even a casually geared 70 can easily do it solo. The only thing really unpredictable about it is when it starts since it has to be triggered by a player.
They also shout out loud about it in Valdrakken before it starts
The horn doesnt always show up on the map. Especially if in Valdrakken. Had to chase one tonight because of it.
yeah I really hate this event. Gotta be there like at least a few minutes before it starts if you don’t wanna miss it.
The fact that it ends really quickly and its only once every 2 hours is absurd.
A real headache if you have multiple alts.
Feel like timegating by Blizz and it is stressful.
Dragonbane should be like “The Hunt” and should have already been fixed during the previous hotfixes.
This has been a problem all expansion long - if they thought it needed changing they would have done so months ago.
It isn’t bad once you figure out every 2 hours on the hour. For me it is 2 am, 4 am, 6 am, etc. Yours might be 3 am, 5am, 7 am depending on time zone.
Obviously far too late now, but hopefully (doubtful though) in the future there will be a hub of the various factions who spawn portals to the particular world events. Even from a “lore” standpoint (as if lore was anything but the bottom most priority for Blizzard) it even makes sense too. The faction knows an assault is going on and they want help…so actually provide the means to get the help there.
I agree. Why should we have a tab of WoWHead open to see when seige, feasts, grand hunts, primal storms, world bosses, etc. are up?
Seems as if this could be made more visible in game. Yes, they show on the map…but another means of tracking these events would be nice.
