IIRC, you won’t max it. I can’t find the standard raiding build I thought I’d saved but it had some points in improved aspect, some in endurance training and then the rest were in MM with a few left over in SV.
All depends on your +hit %. If you are capped at 8.7% then you don’t need to get surefooted from the survival tree. I prefer to be BM/MM. Just so my pet can contribute more damage.
The proper raiding build has 5 points in Endurance Training, 5 Points into Improved Aspect. You go as far down as 3 points into Ferocity, and 5 points into Unleashed Fury for the first few sets of tiers up until AQ.
@OP - generally speaking, you do go a hybrid of MM/BM for raiding. Your spec changes depending on the raid composition and tier you’re in. Your raid leader should communicate with you and your other Hunters as to whose going to be marking, and who will have trueshot aura. Generally speaking, one Hunter will have 5 points in improved marking and have trueshot aura, whereas the other will be more focused purely on DPS. Hunters (MC/BWL tier) will only have 3 points into Survival, which will be for Monster Slaying, purely because the overwhelming majority of raid bosses will be one of these creature types pretty much throughout your entire lifespan of raiding. ZG will have a few humanoids, but ZG is a bridge-tier, so it’s not necessary to respec for it from what I’ve seen and heard.
Once you reach AQ/Naxx, you’ll be dropping Monster Hunter entirely, purely because all the bosses at that point are either Unspecified, or Undead. Correct me if I’m wrong, but even Instructor Razzuvious, Heigan the Unclean and Noth the Plaguebringer are Undead, so you lose all value in having monster slaying and humanoid slaying. So once you remove that, you can put the extra remaining talents into Ferocity. You can allocate points to max out Improved Revive, if you’re finding your pet is dying a lot as well, because odds are, you won’t get much value out of Thick Hide because your pet isn’t taking direct physical damage from the boss. More often than not, it’ll be AOE magic damage your pet will be taking, so it’s more valuable to max out resistances based off the tier you’re in. (MC = Fire, BWL = Shadow & Fire (minus Chromaggus), ZG = Nature & Shadow (IIRC), AQ = Nature & Shadow, and Naxx = Shadow, Frost, and Nature)
