Impose tax on AH goblins and share the gold with all other players!

My dear dearer dearest Blizzard,

I’m wondering if any of your designers have a degree in economics. But the AH-based wow economy really really sucks. You see, this is a closed environment, which will lead to monopoly in the end. Can you tell me the GINI index across all players? I’m quite sure it’s somewhere around 0.8 if not greater. The richeast 1% players are camping AH using scripts like a full-time job, and screwed everybody else, even your server.

So here’s my proposition to solve this problem. We set a gradient tax rate to all player based on the gold they have in the wow account. Every morning King Anduin will send a mail to his loyal subjects claiming tax based on this rate. If you are a poor guy with 10 k gold at hand, you charge 1g per day. If you are a gaint goblin with 1 billion gold at hand, you pay 10% of your gold, which is 100 million per day. By the end of the day, King Anduin will send another mail to his people, equally distribute all the gold he claimed today.

Let’s say if there are 1000 players in a realm. In the beginning, everyone has 10 k gold, the total gold in this realm is then 10 million. Everyone pays 1g per day, and get it back at the end of the day. As time goes by, Gallywix camped AH all day and exploited 8 million gold from other citizens. So now we have Gallywix with 8 million gold, and all others 999 players are sharing the rest 2 million. Next day we charge tax, Gallywix will need to pay 800k as the tax, while the other 999 players tax can be ignored. And this 800k gold will be equally distributed to the 1000 players. Which is 800 gold income per day from taxing.

If Gallywix is not a fool, he should stop camping AH and start to enjoy the game like a normal player. The AH campers will be eliminated, and other players got free gold, everyone is happy except the AH goblins!

Well as far as “horrible ideas” go, this isn’t the worse but it is up there in the top ten.

I love when people mention economics and then head straight into Marxism

didn’t you try this yesterday and get chased out of your own thread?
or was that just another toon that looks and sounds exactly like you?

this economy isn’t viable, by design- it’s artificially controlled by Blizzard who is in league with the people you’re trying to target.

they ALREADY tax people based on their sales… If your LISTING 10 billion worth of items your putting up a lot of gold to begin with… then when it sells you are charged a cut of that.

I like the way you think, comrade.

i think this is a great idea as a player but it will cut into blizzards token cash im sure,so im sure bliz wont like this idea

Well, Blizz is in Cali, communism should be their thing. Gimme some of that sweet sweet gold.

Overly complicated.

Just make it so that when you buy something off the AH, it’s bound to your Warband. It’s that simple. You wanted it, you bought it… it’s yours.

No more flipping. No more middle men. No more degenerate gameplay.

You buy it, it’s yours. Done.
