If you are running 3x Explosive Potential does it matter when you are exploding the imps on single target? Since the imps do as much damage when you explode them as they would have if you let them stay out for the full duration does it matter when you explode them on a non-cleave? I am trying to understand what is the drawback to bursting them sooner? Sorry if this is a dumb question.
Note: I am not talking about during the rotation to get Tyrant fully charged up.
implode like 9 second before you summon tyrant, otherwise you just implode to keep the buff up

You’re wasting globals by Imploding too often.
^^^. What they both said. Strictly to keep the buff up (aim for 1 second left on the buff), and you want to implode around 9 seconds left on the buff right before you start your tyrant build-up.
One thing I struggle with when it comes to Implosive Potential is in single target it really needs to be buffed so it isn’t a complete waste to run it during boss fights. I can do more damage in single target if I pretend I don’t have the legendary and never use Implosion. Which just feels bad if you ask me. Why have 6-9% more haste at the cost of at least 10% more damage?
I think it should be at least 2% haste per imp in single target but maybe it would be op? shrug
You also seem to struggle with Necroing old threads that aren’t applicable anymore.

Ah didn’t even notice that. Not very active on forums so haven’t got the feel for it yet. Thought it was May 20th from 6 days ago XD. I was only attempting to avoid bring back up a topic that had already been brought up. You know, since Explosive Potential isn’t much different than Implosive Potential in name.
It was May 20th from a year ago.
Yeah I see the '20 now lol
Imploding single target with implosive potential is actually a slight dps increase if the target has from the shadows applied.
From the Shadows is not a big enough dps increase to make Implosion a dps gain due to the GCD of Implosion.
Yes, 1 full energy Implosion+FTS is more spell power than 1 full energy Imp, but you are still wasting 1 gcd for what is 3% spell power per full energy imp, meanwhile a shadow bolt is 37% spell power + 1 soul shard.
then you realize that Imp energy decay with time and you can’t rotationally implode 12 full energy imps outside of after tyrant vanishin.
Even doing only after tyrant vanish, it’s not enough imps as you have much better things to do (like Hogs/Demon bolts from all the demon core procs you will build after tyrant ends).
end of story, FTS alone won’t make you Implode on single target.
Now, with the Implosive Potential Legendary i have discovered that the Haste gain starts to be worth a implosion at 12 to 15 imps, as that is a 12~15% haste on single target for 12s.
If you have that legendary, its better to implode after tyrant vanish as that will give you 20~30% haste from all those imps.
