Please I beg of thee, it would be the single most positive addition to cata classic allowing more people to have access to the raid.
I have about 16 buddies who want to raid in cata and not a full raid team, im sure others are in the same boat. I don’t have to have to tell 6 people each week they can’t raid. Flex raiding would be so amazing for the community. I beg of thee blizzard.
Not that I’m a huge opponent of flex raiding, but I don’t feel like “access to the raid” is a worthwhile argument.
I personally preferred WoW when I didn’t know what I was doing, and looked at raiders as elite members of Azerothian society. It seemed like something I could aspire towards, and that gave it value.
I wouldn’t mind flex raiding, but I would prefer if there were single raid difficulties and single lockouts.
so you just like gatekeeping, that is the counter arguement
access to the raid is a very worthwhile arguement, just because you found a competent raid team doesn’t mean that you’re allowed to raid because you dont have a full roster. Roster boss and membership is a very valid and harsh experience for those without a full 10 or 25 person roster ON THE SPOT.
I think the allowed access to the raid, which would still be the same difficulty mind you - flex raiding adjusts difficulty to the raid size - would be insanely beneficial to friend/social/guild groups. Nobody likes recruiting 7 randos when you have a good friend group of 16 already. I don’t see gatekeeping and personal feelings of “looking at raiders as elite members of azerothian society” are a good counter argument to a 20 year old game that a bunch of 30 somethings with jobs, mortgages, kids want to play with their friends in the small free time they have in this life.
raiding should be a part of the gameplay experience, not some thing you gatekeep to make yourself feel better about yourself in a 20 year old video game, we are too old and should be more self-actualized than to hold an opinion to exclude others in a piece of media for self-validation. I just wanna play the game with my friends.
Maybe? I suppose you could put it that way, if you’d like. I’m not a proponent of equality of outcome, because I think it basically lowers the value, enjoyment, or satisfaction of anything that bears a reward.
You know what would be an “excellent” way to give raid access to everyone? An optional “god mode” that you can toggle to become 1000% stronger in instanced content, while solo.
I don’t think such a thing would increase my own personal enjoyment.
Yes, my own opinions and preferences are selfish. I like the things that I like.
I mean, the way you’re saying this makes it sound like you’ve had some bad experiences. It’s more or less impossible to gatekeep anything in WoW, since literally everybody has access to all the things in the same equal way anyway, no matter whether you make raids this size or that.
My preference would not, and cannot prevent someone else from rolling their own selection of characters, forming or joining groups according to their own preferences, etc.
Do you feel that anything I’ve stated would prevent you from doing so?
bro you make absolutely no sense whatsoever, flex raiding is already in retail and nobody’s accomplishments are watered down because of it
i didnt even take the time to fully read what you wrote, because none of the counter arguments seemed valid, especially youre awful strawman/slippery slope argument about solo raids, again they already implemented flex raiding for a while and it works great - for those who have been under a rock
I feel like maybe you’re looking for something where it’s just not there. I gave you my opinion and preference.
It’s like me saying, “Hey, I don’t want mushrooms on my pizza. Just pepperoni, cheese, and sauce and I’m good.” Because that’s what I like. You can argue all you’d like, and say that it makes no sense that I would prefer to have less on my pizza, even at the same price, and even though mushrooms are added nutrition in addition to added value!
Normally I would not be an advocate for this but there have been so many changes to that stream of Classic already that I think any advocacy for the purity of the game just falls flat these days.
I do think flex raiding was a huge value add for the game as a whole. It just enabled smaller, casual/semi casual guilds to flourish by not having to adhere to such a fixed roster. I think it would be a welcome addition to Cata. There will be balance issues with the scaling breakpoints, but it’s my understanding that balance issues between 10-man and 25-man in Cata already exists.
It’s worth noting though that I have no intention of playing Cata at all, so I don’t really have a horse in this race.
i just think for playability and #somechanges the implementation of flex raiding would allow guilds without a perfect 10 or 25 raiders to accommodate their homies while still “earning” their raid kill because the content gets harder the more people aare in the raid (that is how flex raiding works for the laymen).
I just dont see the benefit right now in being so rigid and absurd with cata, already nobody is looking forward to this. Without #somechanges i think cata is dead on arrival.
