Down voting capability was a great feature and I miss it a lot.
Personally, I was fine with the post obliteration, but I know others disliked the system because it hid posts. Fair enough then on that point, leave all post visible, as long as all votes up or down are visible also.
The one element that would need, and still needs, fixed is the “one person, one vote”.
Up or down votes either way we’re perfectly fine and useful.
Multi Alt/Acount bombing a post was not fine, useful, or fair.

Absolutely. I only ever use one character at a time, and have never used an alternative one to boost likes or flag posts. Sadly, this is done quite frequently here and is such a glaring issue I’m rather surprised it hasn’t been dealt with from the onset.

Even with dislikes, reporting was a thing.
Oh, I know. I don’t mean to imply that I think report/flagging should be removed. I do think it should a more regulated and accountable feature, but that’s for another topic.
I do believe that flagging is the current way players dislike topics and replies. There is, sadly, no consequence for falsely flagging anything. As I’ve said prior, this topic has been hidden and restored three times now.
I also believe a dislike feature would very possibly reduce the frequency of false flagging. Flagging something falsely should also have consequences, in my opinion.
Actually you can get suspended if you falsely flag too much. It’s kind of on the lines of spamming.
I didn’t know that. I hope that’s true. I see it happen, alas, so often.
Well you don’t hear about punishments of others.
This is true. I just have never read mentioned that false flagging actually carries a punishment. I know we can’t discuss individual, specific punishments. I had a throw-away thread removed because of that, actually, just now.
Agreed. There’s zero reason to not have downvoting when everyone just abuses the flagging system as a psudo downvote right now anyway.

Related to this today is that some people care about their trust level and ability to have additional posting capabilities.
With the way things work now, people may just flag an ill considered post or get caught up in a flame war for a couple posts.
With a downvote (no trust level repercussions), that ends it.
Today, some who writes a lot of good and useful posts can still have their trust level killed, quite unfairly, because someone disagreed enough to flag them.
You and another poster (who posts frequently and is overwhelmingly a great forum person) can have your trust level impacted just because this is kind of a hot button issue for some
A downvote button allows a quick way for people to express their view, and doesn’t take away their earned trust privileges.
I think I know whom you’re talking about, and it’s unfortunate, truly.
I mean, I have had it taken away but it was report worthy. If you don’t want TL3 taken away, don’t say something bad worthy.
It should have never been removed to start with.

I wish it were true that ‘bad worthy’ were the only type of post flaggied.
Flagged doesn’t mean suspended though.

Yea you don’t lose trust level just by having a post flagged.

It was removed as people were abusing it to down-vote things simply because they didnt like or agree with the opinion of the poster. I dont think it needs to come back. As it is now, you can flag a post for a few reasons, the mods will look it over and make a decision, that is how it is, that is how it should stay.

If you don’t like a post don’t give it attention, I don’t get how hard of a concept it is to grasp, bad posts aren’t jumping in your face forcing you to read them, if it’s inappropriate flag it, if you simply don’t like it due to personal opinion ignore it.
And the problem with that is the TL3 people, who theoretically are solid posters, really can’t say anything remotely that can get them in trouble.
Their posts just become like rice cakes made of air.
